Instagram app is crashing for some Android users

There are many reports from around the globe tonight that confirm Instagram keeps crashing for a lot of users.

Sites that track when a popular app is down are also backing up these reports, with many revealing large numbers of affected users.

Instagram is down in other areas as well, with some users confirming that they can’t get past the login screen.

“It's been down in Las Vegas for almost 4 hours now so hopefully by tomorrow it's up,” one user wrote.

While another added: “I have an Android phone. Crashed shortly after I made a post. I haven't heard if it's affected iPhone.”

There have been no new reports posted on Instagram's other social media accounts, so it’s currently unclear what could be causing tonight’s outage.

The official support site simply states that there are no known issues to report at this time, something that should change is the outage continues.

Meanwhile, live outage maps run on sites like DownDetector show that Instagram is reportedly being hit with the most reports in the United States.

Instagram appears to have suffered problems overnight with many people reporting that the app and website have both gone down.

Some people have tweeted that the app has been down for them for several hours as they vent their frustration with #instagramdown.

The problem appears to be affecting Android users, judging by the number of smug iPhone owners who took to Twitter to boast about how their was Instagram working perfectly.

Many have said that the app won’t open while others are able to log on, but the app then crashes.

Others had previously been able to use the app but it stopped suddenly.

Some have resorted to deleting the app and reinstalling it, which worked for a short time but then the app crashed again.

The problem appears to be global, but there is no official word on Instagram’s website or its Twitter feed.

One person wrote: ‘Instagram hasn’t been working since about 3 in the morning. I thought it was just my crap phone.’

Matthew Robin added: ‘#Instagram is currently down. Which means right now, this second, no one is a model.’

It seems like the Instagram app on Android is crashing for many users.

Several Twitter users report issues on the Google platform but no trouble on iOS.

The DownDetector website shows the problem is widespread, ranging from Asia to North America.

It’s not very often that the world’s most popular services get knocked offline, but it seems like the Instagram Android app is the latest service to suffer from an outage.

The issue, spotted on r/Android, appears to have affected a wide range of devices, including the Google Pixel 2 to the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. The Instagram app simply fails to start on those handsets.
