West Indies were looking like a group of players who had forgotten how to bat. They were never in the competition. Pakistan were all over them, right from the time Samuel Badree bowled the first over of the match to the time he became the last man to fall for West Indies. This is a weakened Windies team and so, them winning the match would have been a big shock. But Karachi would have probably liked to see a bit more of a match on this occassion.

Players shake hands before the action starts. Full house at the National Stadium which hosts an international game after nine years.

Time for national anthems

Toss: West Indies have won the toss and elected to field first. Hussain Talat and Asif Ali make Pakistan debut.

Sarfraz Ahmed: Wicket is good for batting. We will try to score more than 160 runs and then defend it

Jason Mohammad: I am captaining the side for the first time. Obviously, there will be some pressure on me

19: 30: Hello and welcome to the ball-by-ball coverage of the first Twenty20 between Pakistan and West Indies from National Cricket Stadium.

KARACHI: Karachi is set to host its first international cricket game in nine years after West Indies take to the field against Pakistan in the first Twenty20 at National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Although the top-ranked Pakistan are clear favorite in the historic contest, the reigning World T20 Champion can never be ruled out of the game despite fielding an inexperienced side. Marlon Samuels and Samuel Badree are the only two big names in the visiting side.

The Men in Green are in good form due to the recently-concluded Pakistan Super League.

The Jason Mohammed-led tourists, having only arrived in Karachi a few hours ago, will have to recover from the jet-lag and produce a competitive game.

Squads

Pakistan: Fakhar Zaman, Ahmed Shehzad, Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed (capt & wk), Shoaib Malik, Faheem Ashraf, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Nawaz

West Indies (likely XI): Andre Fletcher, Chadwick Walton, Marlon Samuels, Jason Mohammed (capt), 5 Denesh Ramdin (wk), Rovman Powell, Keemo Paul, Rayad Emrit, Veerasammy Permaul, Samuel Badree and Kesrick Williams
