If you lost service as a result of the high winds in our region, you can report your power outage by visiting the Outage Central section of our website. Remember, if you come across a downed wire stay away and report it immediately to National Grid or to your local authorities. If you use a generator to supply power during an outage, be sure to operate it outdoors. Before operating generators, disconnect from National Grid’s system by shutting off the main breaker located in the electric service panel. Failure to do this could jeopardize the safety of line crews and the public.
A field force of more than 1,700 workers has been active across upstate New York since yesterday. They remain focused on public safety, removing downed trees, tree limbs and other hazards and restoring service after yesterday’s damaging winds.
If you lost power, you may view estimated times of restoration for your area/town on our Outage Map or check on the status of an outage at your own residence/business. We urge customers to put safety first. Consider all downed wires to be live and dangerous, as they may be in contact with energized electric wires hidden from view. To report downed electric wires, please call us at 1-800-867-5222 or your local emergency response organization.
We continue to work on remaining outages and anticipate a vast majority of these to be restored by midnight.
In some cases of single outages, restoration could extend to tomorrow. These are cases where individual homes or businesses have taken damage and require a combination of National Grid- and privately-owned equipment to be repaired.
We remain in storm recovery mode, and urge safety for our customers and crews. Avoid and report any downed lines. If you’re operating a generator, remember to do so outdoors.
