A pregnant Cardi B came early to Coachella 2018, saw many, and conquered all

Cardi B didn’t let her pregnancy get in the way of her Coachella debut, though she did have a lot to say about it on Sunday.

“I’m running out of breath,” joked the rapper, 25, onstage at the annual California music festival. “You know my pregnant ass. I need some friends to help me out. Give it up for my friend G-Eazy.”

But after the duo performed his song “No Limit,” Cardi proved she wasn’t about to miss a beat: The “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker spit her rhymes as dancers grinded on poles behind her.

Later in the energetic set, Cardi removed her long white coat, giving the audience a better glimpse of her growing baby bump in a tight white ensemble.

Taking a moment to reflect on her meteoric and record-breaking rise up the charts, the Grammy-nominated star said, “Let me tell you something: When God put you somewhere, he’s the only one who can take you out.”

The sass returned after Cardi and YG performed their song “She Bad,” in which he repeats “that ass” throughout. “And that’s how I got pregnant, y’all,” Cardi joked. “Just like that.”

The rapper hit Coachella to perform jams from her new album Invasion of Privacy one week after debuting her baby bump on Saturday Night Live and confirming that she and her fiancé Offset are expecting.

Offset, who is one-third of the hip-hop trio Migos, also performed at Coachella on Sunday.

The baby on the way will be the first child for Cardi and the fourth for Offset, 26, who has three children from previous relationships. Cardi B has confirmed she’s due in July and knows the sex of the baby — but isn’t sharing.

“Cardi and I look forward to our next chapter together,” Offset tweeted shortly after his bride-to-be’s bump-revealing SNL performance.

Though many have speculated the song “Be Careful” was inspired by Offset’s alleged infidelity during their relationship, the pair seem to be closer than ever.

The two got engaged in October onstage at Power 99’s Powerhouse concert in Philadelphia. Offset shared video of the engagement and Cardi B’s 8-carat diamond ring on his Instagram Story shortly after their performance.

Cardi B shared a photo of herself holding up the ring on Instagram, writing, “Jesus Christ I’m so emotional, @offsetyrn I loveee you so much. Thank you for seeing the potential in me since you met me. For giving me advice molding me and loving me.”

“[You’re] such an amazing man to me your family, friends, kids and you are extremely talented,” she continued. “I can’t wait to spend FOREVAAAA with you. Lets make a lot shmoney and love together.”

Cardi B previously appeared on VH1’s reality show Love & Hip Hop: New York before signing with Atlantic Records in the fall of 2016. After releasing her single “Bodak Yellow” in June 2017, she became the first rapper with three Billboard Hot 100 entries in the Top 10 at the same time.

During an interview on Power 105.1’s show The Breakfast Club on Tuesday, Cardi B said it “disgusts” her that people have reached out to her online to more or less tell her that motherhood will ruin her professional success.

“It just really bothers me and it disgusts me because I see a lot of women online like, ‘Oh I feel sorry for you, oh your career is over,'” she said. “As a woman, why can’t I have both? Why do I gotta choose a career or a baby? Like, why can’t I have both? I want both.”

When the baby arrives, Cardi B has made it clear that she won’t be slowing down. While co-hosting The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Cardi B said she’ll join Bruno Mars on his 24K Magic Tour in September with her firstborn in tow.

“I’m taking my baby with me!” she said.

Fresh off dropping her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, Cardi B took the stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival tonight. During her set, she brought out several artists featured on Invasion of Privacy, including Chance the Rapper (for “Best Life”), YG (for “She Bad”), Kehlani (for “Ring”), and 21 Savage (for “Bartier Cardi”). G-Eazy also joined her on stage for “No Limit.” Watch snippets below.

Patience may be a virtue, but it is not Cardi B's strong suit. After all, it is her lack of patience with those unwilling to give her a chance that got her to where she is today.

Three years after appearing on the VH1 reality TV show Love & Hip Hop, social-media-sensation-turned-pop-star Cardi B performed in front of a massive crowd at the 2018 Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival on Sunday.

Starting her unusually short set a few minutes early, Cardi B made it clear she meant business from the jump. "Let me take you to the (expletive) Bronx," she told her audience after shooting out onto the stage.

It is Cardi B's authenticity — and the fact that for many outside of the white mainstream she's the girl next door — that has paved the way to her success. Her opening stage visuals, a collage of makeup-less selfies and videos of her twerking in a strip club, were a reminder to everyone that she still is Cardi from the Bronx.

She delivered a star-studded performance, including No Limit co-star G-Eazy as well as Chance the Rapper, Kehlani, YG and 21 Savage, who are all collaborators on her new album Invasion of Privacy.

As in many previous performances, Cardi B's incredible stage presence outshone them all. Literally stripped down, her stage set included little more than a metal frame, which dancers in TLC-inspired outfits used to pole dance, leaving just enough space for her infamously big personality to shine.

Despite assumptions that her performance had been cut short due to her recently announced pregnancy, Cardi B showed no signs of restraint during her 30-minute show. The audience gasped in awe as the pregnant singer twerked with her dancers and ran up and down the festival's main stage.

The show ended as abruptly as it began, and a crowd fit for a headliner walked off, some still singing the chorus to Be Careful or Bodak Yellow.

G-Eazy and Cardi B perform onstage during the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival Weekend 1 at the Empire Polo Field on April 15, 2018 in Indio, Calif.

Cardi B turned Coachella into Boachella during her early evening set on the main stage of the festival on the final night of the three-day event (April 15).

After dramatically revealing her pregnancy during her performance last weekend on NBC’s Saturday Night Live, Cardi B showed off her baby bump during her 35-minute performance, flanked by backup dancers grinding up and down stripper poles and hanging from scaffolding behind her. The music heavily centered on cuts from her debut full-length Invasion of Privacy that, just hours before, was announced as the new No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with the second-largest week of 2018 and the biggest streaming week ever for an album by a woman.

“I’m out of breath, you know I’m pregnant,” said the Bronx native, her hair in two ponytails on either side of her head and a full-length white trench over a matching white ensemble. “I’ma get my friends to help me out!”

As the crowd overflowed for one of the strongest attended sets of the weekend, Cardi brought out several associates to share the spotlight. G-Eazy assisted for “No Limit,” where Cardi flipped her lyrics and rapped, “Fuck him then I get some money/Fuck him then I got a baby!” with a signature wide smile. Kehlani came through to bless “Ring,” while Chance the Rapper and 21 Savage slid by to perform “Best Life” and “Bartier Cardi,” respectively.

Notably missing was Migos and her baby’s father Offset, who were performing later that night. But Cardi was in good spirits—too good, perhaps—as she twerked on stage with full energy, not letting her pregnancy slow her down. The hits came fast and landed hard: opener “Get Up 10” set the tone as serious, her verse from Bruno Mars’ “Finesse” lightened it up and, by the end, “Bodak Yellow” capped it off with a bang. If her spirit and ferocity were any indication, then her upcoming festival dates at Panorama and tour with Mars show no signs of compromise.
