‘Malaysia’s hottest DJ’ Leng Yein alleges abuse, posts bloody photos on Facebook

One of the photos shared by Leng Yein on her Facebook page.PETALING JAYA, March 23 — Female DJ Leng Yein wrote an emotional post on Facebook today accompanied by pictures of her looking bruised and bloodied, alleging that this was the result of physical abuse at the hands of an ex-boyfriend.

In the lengthy post, Yein said the person, whom she described as “powerful” and “a lawyer,” had been violent towards her in their two-year relationship.

She detailed verbal threats made by her ex, including a suggestion that he could kill Yein and her sister, Leng Sean, a local social media influencer.

The pictures posted suggest she had suffered a head wound, which bloodied her hands and hair. Others showed bruises and cuts to her face as well as limbs.

Just hours earlier, the DJ famous for undergoing multiple cosmetic surgeries, including breast enhancements, had live-streamed an argument with her partner that lasted over 10 minutes.

The pair yelled at each other before Yein locked herself in the bedroom and broke down in tears.

She wrote status updates seemingly in distress, pleading with her three million followers through messages, such as “Help me” and “He locked my Wi-Fi help me”.

However, the photos of her injuries that she shared do not appear to be current.

For instance, the image of her head wound showed her with her hair dyed blonde. Her hair is pink in the “live” video.

“I am not afraid of the TRUTH. This is NOT LOVE. Domestic violence is NOT RIGHT,” she later wrote.

The 33-year-old explained on Facebook that she broke up with her boyfriend before undergoing surgery recently.

Yein flew to Taiwan for an operation after apparently having a severe allergic reaction to eating seafood in Singapore two weeks ago.

She said she returned home to find the man still living there.

Yein is considered a popular female DJ in Malaysia and is prominent for her physical appearance, which has also helped propel her to fame in the region.

Along with a fashion line and various other ventures in the entertainment industry, she was a 2003 Miss Malaysia finalist when she was 18.

On Friday (March 23), celebrity DJ Leng Yein uploaded a distressing post on her Facebook page, accusing her ex-boyfriend of abuse that had spanned the last two years.

Photos showing blood on Leng Yein's face, hands, legs, as well as hair matted with blood were also posted.

In her recount, the DJ said that she had kept quiet about the ongoing abuse for the last two years, but she finally had enough.

She alleged that her boyfriend had ties to the police and judiciary system, but she was not afraid of the exposing the truth, adding:

"Domestic violence is not right."

To make matters worse, Leng Yein said she had an operation just nine hours before the incident.

According to her post on Instagram Stories, Leng Yein had developed an infection in her lymph nodes after eating seafood in Taiwan earlier this month.

The infection subsequently spread to her left breast, and the area became filled with pus.

As a result, she had to undergo surgery.

Her post continued:

"You left me yesterday morning before I went for my morning operation, and said you wanted to move out and go home.

"I just came out from (the) emergency operation room for nine hours and reached Malaysia this morning,

"You just couldn't leave me alone.

"Two years, you have been lent and I kept so quietly because I didn't want people to laugh at me."

In her post, Leng Yein revealed that she had broken up with her partner, citing:

"We broke up yesterday before my surgery.

"You said you wanted to move home and said I treat you like a dog.

"You also said I wasn't understanding and I'm a bad girlfriend.

"You have repeated this for one year plus now."

Leng Yein also depicted a scenario where her ex-boyfriend dominated their interactions, often turning nasty if he could not get his way, even going as far as threatening to kill her and her sister.

She also said that he would start throwing things, breaking items, and beat her up each time she told him not to overreact.

Leng Yein then confessed her heartbreak, saying that she thought that he 'got better'.

Unfortunately, things did not change, and she is now determined to return to her life before he came and started 'wrecking it'.

She also insisted that it was the last straw, recounting previous instances where he had 'manipulated' and found his way back to her.

The post comes mere hours prior to several other distressing posts and a Facebook Live video.

The previous two posts simply read 'Help me' and "He locked my wi-fi, help me".

In the video, Leng Yein can be heard shouting for someone to leave her apartment.

She then makes a call to a friend asking for her to come down, before recording herself live.

In her recount, she says that she has just returned to Malaysia following a surgery, and has locked herself in a room.

She adds that her boyfriend has snatched the key and is trying to enter the apartment.

Leng Yein reveals that she has been under constant abuse by her boyfriend and she 'doesn't want to die just after a life-changing ordeal'.

She also professes that she has never done anything that did not prioritise her boyfriend.

Shortly after, Leng Yein and her ex-boyfriend start arguing.

The verbal span continues, with the man saying that he is not leaving because he has items left in the house while Leng Yein retorts that he could have moved them out the day before.

The two continue to accuse each other of inflicting bodily harm on each other.

At this point, Leng Yein goes to the door, seemingly to prevent the ex-boyfriend from coming in.

The video is then cut off abruptly.

Leng Yein's post comes after almost two years after the two first got together in 2016.

Leng Yein is one of Malaysia’s most popular DJ’s – although arguably as famous for her plastic surgery procedures, and expansive bust-line, as she is for her skills behind the decks. Her popularity in Southeast is unparalleled, getting flown around and playing gigs from Taipei to Macau with regional superstars.

However, last night things took a turn for the dark, with Leng Yein posting a pleading Facebook live video, telling her followers that she was under great distress, that someone was forcing themselves into a room, and that they had turned off the Wi-Fi.

The comments on the clip range from asking her to “take care,” to flat-out calling her dramatic and attention-seeking.

Perhaps reaching a breaking point of frustration, four hours later she posted a lengthy statement claiming abuse from her partner that had spanned the last two years, along with painful photos of the damage he is said to have inflicted.

Her account is painful, and familiar to victims of domestic violence: Silence. Shame. Emotional abuse intended to wear-down the victim. Threats were made on her life, and on that of her family’s. Misguided forgiveness, and attempts to understand where her attacker was coming from.

Finally, a conclusion that she had to choose life, that what was happening was wrong and that she had to use her platform to stop other women being victims of domestic violence.

She says her attacker is a lawyer, and someone well-connected with law enforcement and the legal system. She also says that her Facebook live video came hours after flying into Malaysia following emergency surgery in Taiwan. Her bandages are visible throughout the clip.

It’s been a rough few weeks for Leng.

Earlier this month she faced a life-threatening condition while in Taiwan. After eating seafood, she unwittingly developed an infection from the food she had just consumed in her lymph nodes. Unaware of the severity and thinking it was a sore back, she slept on her front only to have the infection spread to her left breast.

The area filled with pus, and she was forced to have her left implant removed. She was put on drips for five hours every day while the surrounding tissue was cleared of infection, and even had a tube inserted into her chest that she had to carry around.

Say what you will about her music, maybe disagree with her asthetics, but there is one thing that is very certain if you have been following her career over the last few years: Leng Yein has an insane work ethic. She will play back to back gigs from one country to the next, and has openly admitted that she has a whole family that depends on her.

With her tube inserted, and blood bag in hand like a clutch, she traveled to Macau to perform a gig, and followed it up the next night with another engagement in Penang.

She then flew back to Taiwan to have her chest reconstructed, returning to Malaysia yesterday only to have last night’s incident occur.

Today’s post is unsettling: As a figure who has built her career on an aesthetic that is too good to be true, of unattainable proportions and features, she has stripped it all away with the most raw images you can see on a Friday morning.

Of pain. Of blood. Of matted hair, and terrified eyes.

How incredibly brave, Leng. We hope that you can overcome this and recover from your surgeries, and emotional and physical distress soon.
