How to sign-up to get Fortnite on your mobile phone

Update: The site is back online.

Update: Fortnite.com is being brought down for maintenance, presumably due to high traffic. Epic predicts it will be back up around 1:30 EST.

If you want to see what Fortnite Battle Royale looks like on a mobile device, now's your chance -- at least to try. Developer Epic Games just opened up sign-ups for the iOS pilot program for the just-announced mobile version of the massively popular battle royale game -- all you have to do is go to this website and fill out the forms to get a chance at being one of the first few to try it out.

To participate, you'll need an internet connection, iOS 11, and at least an iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 or any 2017 iPad to participate. iPhones 7+ will also work. Remember, this is a limited access pilot program, so you're really just entering into a lottery by giving Epic your email. The chosen few will receive emails when they can start playing, which Epic seems to suggest is in the near-future. Given the social nature of this game, they'll also receive extra codes for their friends.

If you don't get a code right away, Epic will be sending out future waves after this initial one, and of course the game will eventually see a full commercial release. At this early stage we can expect a slightly less-polished product than what Epic will eventually release to the public.

An Android version will follow in the coming months.

The main thing I'll be looking at when I (eventually) get my hands on the game will be how well the control scheme translates to touch, particularly since the game relies on switching back and forth between shooting and a building mechanic that requires a certain degree of speed and dexterity to pull off in any kind of competitive way. I'm not expecting controls to be as responsive or as accurate as a mouse and keyboard on PC, but I'll still be looking for a baseline level capable of maintaining the same essential experience of the game across platforms.

Fortnite is about to get bigger than ever (Epic Games)

Epic Games will be launching the mobile version of Fortnite Battle Royale this week and players can sign-up from today to get invited to play.

The mobile Fortnite is set to be the exact same as other platforms with the same graphics and gameplay, as well as the regular weekly updates.

It will enable players to enjoy the game wherever they go as long as they have a compatible device and an internet connection.

Alongside the new mobile version of the game, players will also soon be able to cross-play with PC, Mac, PS4 and Xbox One.

Will vehicles be added to Fortnite Battle Royale?

There are currently no vehicles in Battle Royale but developers have been open to the idea of adding them to the game in some capacity.

On the Fortnite website Epic Games says ‘Right now we do not have any immediate plans to add vehicles.’

Game review: Warhammer: Vermintide II aims to be the ultimate co-op game

‘We’ve done some very early prototypes internally, but have concerns with how they’ll affect the flow of Battle Royale.’

Whilst vehicles don’t yet feature in Battle Royale, they do exist in the other Fortnite game mode – Save the World.

Epic Games added a hoverboard during the season 3 update and it lets players travel the map at a faster speed, but they can get knocked off if they take damage while riding it.

This could potentially be something that we will see added to the Battle Royale version of the game in the future, which would provide a new way for players to travel.

As teases go this ones not too obscure

It’s unlikely that we will see larger vehicles, like those available in PUBG, as Fortnite is currently played on a fairly small map which makes cars and motorbikes unnecessary.

A jetpack was teased on Fortnite last week and while it hasn’t been confirmed exactly what the jetpack will do, many players are getting excited about the upcoming item.

It was originally set to be released last week but it has since been delayed while developers continue to perfect the item after some design issues.

Epic Games has now allowed players to sign-up for the new mobile version of Fortnite Battle Royale.

The high number of people signing up saw the Epic Games website briefly crash earlier today and many players still have their fingers crossed that they will get an invite to the game.

It will feature the same graphics and gameplay and it will also receive the same weekly updates.

However, today’s mobile Fortnite launch will only be playable by people who have an Apple device, so when can we expect to play it on Android?

When does Fortnite mobile come out on Android?

Currently mobile Fortnite will only be available to iOS11 users, meaning that it doesn’t yet support Android devices.

If you do have an Android phone you can still sign-up for the mobile version but you may have a bit of a wait before you can play it.

The Fortnite team has suggested that we could be waiting at least a couple of months until the game is available on all phones.

On the Epic Games website it says ‘We expect to rollout Android in the next few months.’

‘If you are on an Android device, please sign up…We’ll notify you when your Android device is supported.’

Fortnite Mobile Explained Everything you need to know about the launch of Fortnite Battle Royale on Mobile. 1 / 7 EPIC Epic Games are bringing Fortnite Battle Royale to mobile and tablet devices

ORIGINAL STORY - Earlier Friday morning Epic made the unprecedented move to announce Fortnite for mobile and tablet devices, further cementing the games continued rise, arguably to heights greater than rival PUBG.. The best of all though is that the wait for this new way to play Fortnite Battle Royale isn't even that far away, with Epic Games stating that they will start this mobile rollout this coming Monday. This isn't to say that players will be getting a lesser experience, as the developers have promised the "Same gameplay, same map, same content". Fortnite Mobile will also bring cross-platform play and cross progression between PS4, Xbox, PC, Mac, iOS and Android. However, the cross-platform play and cross progression will not work between PS4 and Xbox, because, well, we know why. Speaking about their future vision for the game, the developer said: “We believe this is the future of games. The same game on all platforms. “Console quality graphics and action. Play when you want, where you want.” Ahead of the launch of Fortnite Mobile, we've rounded up everything you need to know.

FORTNITE MOBILE RELEASE DATE Fortnite Battle Royale on mobile doesn't have a release date just yet, however, based on whats been communicated by Epic Games so far, it doesn't appear as though we'll be waiting all that long. It's possible though that first Epic Games could hold a test period for the game on mobile because, as we'll get to, the developers are holding sign-ups for an "invite event". This is only on iOS and all communication regarding the Android release has suggested that it could still be "in the next few months." HOW TO SIGN UP? Starting this coming Monday, March 12, sign-up at www.Fortnite.com will be open for the Invite Event on Apple iOS devices. Epic has not said when precisely on Monday the sign ups will be, but we wouldn't be surprised if the website chugs to a standstill as everyone fights to sign up ti the event. Email invites will start rolling out "soon thereafter" but no official date has been shared just yet. "When you are invited, you will receive an email with a link to download the game from the App Store. If you don’t receive an invite right away, don’t worry. We’ll be adding more players regularly over the coming months," epic warned. Players who do receive invites from Epic will also get additional friend invite codes to share with friends.
