Katherine’s character, Hannah Baker, was central to the storyline of season one but will take more of a backseat when the show returns.

Furthermore, the actress warned fans that the character they will see in the second run will be very different to the one they met in the first series.

Speaking on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this month, Katherine explained: “It was a very different season to season one for a lot of reasons.

“But I’m super grateful to be asked back, because I think there’s so much left to tell and I’m really glad we got to focus on some important storylines for other characters.”

She continued: “The Hannah in season one is gone.

The Netflix series earned itself a huge army of fans and they could be in for a surprise over the weekend.

March 31 will mark one year since the first season was released and some viewers think this will be the release date of the second series.

Fans have been speculating on Twitter and many of them believe tomorrow will be the day it finally drops.

Fans of 13 Reasons Why have gone into overdrive as they speculate the release of the second season, with many believing it would drop onto the streaming service this weekend. March 31 marks one year since the first series dropped on Netflix leading many to believe viewers could be in for a surprise over the Easter Weekend. However, it was very unlikely that the series would return without warns as many fans in the US have been offered the opportunity to win tickets to watch season two before it airs. Taking place in Los Angeles, the exclusive event, which takes place over three days, March 30, March 31 and April 4, will allow fans to watch the series and a Q&A with the cast. It is therefore more likely that 13 Reasons Why will return to the streaming site later this spring. However, the series has begun to promote its return.

Earlier this month, the programme unveiled a warning video starring the show’s actors to caution viewers on the controversial content. The teen drama tackles suicide, self-harm and suicide, with the second run expected to focus on the aftermath of Jessica Davis’ (played by Alisha Boe) sexual assault. When the series returns, executive producer Brian Yorkey revealed that Hannah Baker’s (Katherine Langford) peers would be given the chance to tell their side of the story. He told Radio Times: “There are at least 12 kids that have another version of those events that we haven’t really heard from yet, so I think there’s quite a bit more of Hannah’s story to tell. “I don’t think Hannah told any untruths on her tapes. I think she told her story and she claimed her narrative.”

In season one, fans saw Hannah try to get help from Mr Porter after she was raped by Bryce but he failed to support her. Series two will focus on Mr Porter struggling to come to terms with Hannah’s suicide as he realises he should have done more to help. Showrunner Brian Wright previously commented: “Mr. Porter, in particular, will be coming to terms with the mistakes that he made, with the ways that he let her down.” As well as the original cast, there will a number of newcomers when 13 Reasons Why returns to Netflix. This will include coaches, parents of students and lawyers, as it has been rumoured that the Baker family will sue Liberty High for Hannah’s suicide.

13 Reasons Why star Katherine Langford, who stars as Hannah Baker, has hinted that her character may not return for a third series or could leave the second run prematurely.

The actress shot to fame when the Netflix series premiered last year, with the show focussing on the events which led to Hannah’s suicide.

The high school student left her friends and peers a number of cassettes to listen to as she revealed what had happened to her in the months before she decided to take her own life.

Executive producer Brian Yorkey has promised fans that the second series will focus on the other characters.

And it seems it means Hannah may not be as present as fans might have hoped.
