So Proud To Be Ger

THE second half of the season is about to get underway at the Light Blues and you can subscribe to RangersTV for exclusive access to your club from just £5 a month.

JAMIE MURPHY was on cloud nine today as he met his new teammates and enjoyed his first training session as a Rangers player at the IMG Academy in Bradenton.

The 28-year-old winger is living the dream having secured an initial loan move to the Light Blues which will become permanent in the summer.

The lifelong Rangers fan arrived in Florida late last night and although jaded today he could not hide his excitement at joining the club he and his family have always supported.

Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “I’m delighted to be here. Obviously it lasted a couple of days the transfer, but I’m glad everything went through.

“The last couple of days were a bit manic but to get everything done and to come over and see all the boys, it’s been a great start.

Rangers is obviously the team I supported growing up and the team my family supported as well so they are all delighted, as am I, and I can’t wait to play some football.

“I feel the best years are obviously ahead of me. I’ve had a good career up until now, obviously down in England and in Scotland, so I’m looking to kick on, as Rangers are. Everything is looking up.

“There was a little tear in my dad’s eye when we were doing all the signing stuff so it’s a big thing.

“Obviously being from Glasgow I know what it’s like supporting the club, so I’m going to do everything I can to try and help Rangers become successful again.”

Bookies have suspended betting on Rangers being relegated from the Scottish Premiership due to financial troubles but perhaps rival fans shouldn't get too excited.

The Ibrox club currently sit third in the league, 23 points ahead of bottom placed Ross County , making it highly unlikely they would be relegated through normal means.

But internet rumours of financial problems at the club have sparked a series of bets and resulted in betting being suspended by many major bookmakers.

Rival fans have been sent into a frenzy by the news on social media but suspended betting means little.

In recent times, betting has been suspended on Robin van Persie joining Rangers, Alex McLeish making a shock Ibrox return and on Zlatan Ibrahimovic joining Celtic.

Bookies often suspend betting if there is a sharp uptake on the amount of money being gambled.

It doesn't mean that something is about to happen and is purely the bookmaker looking after themselves.

In reality, a suspension can be triggered by just a handful of punters taking a gamble on any bet.

So while much of Scottish football is getting excited about the prospect of Rangers going into administration, Ibrox fans shouldn't be too worried about the news.
