Does Reese Witherspoon Have 3 Legs on Vanity Fair Cover?

Magazines Three hands, three legs? Vanity Fair cover photoshop fail sparks Twitter reaction Fans point out Oprah and Reese Witherspoon’s extra limbs, prompting Witherspoon to tweet: ‘I guess everybody knows now ... For decades, Vanity Fair has brought together an impressive collection of film’s brightest stars for its annual Hollywood issue. This year, Twitter users are noting that the magazine appears to have thrown in a couple of extra arms and legs.

“Well … I guess everybody knows now … I have 3 legs,” tweeted Reese Witherspoon. “I hope you can still accept me for who I am.”

Witherspoon’s additional limb is not the only curious feature of the cover, shot by Annie Leibovitz. In another image, Oprah Winfrey appears to be posing with two arms by her side, while a third is gripping Witherspoon around the waist. “I accept your 3d leg. As I know you accept my 3d hand,” Winfrey tweeted at Witherspoon.

Vanity Fair conceded that Oprah’s additional arm was a mistake, but said Witherspoon’s extra limb was a visual trick caused by the lining of her dress.

Vanity Fair tweeted: “While we would have loved the exclusive on @RWitherspoon’s three legs, unfortunately it’s just the lining of her dress. As for @Oprah, how can we expect her to juggle it all with just two hands? (We are correcting this error online).”

Now in its 24th year, Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood issue has become a significant feature of awards season, bringing together several of the stars in the running at that year’s Oscars. Alongside Winfrey and Witherspoon, this year’s issue features Nicole Kidman, Tom Hanks, Jessica Chastain, Harrison Ford, Michael B Jordan, Zendaya and Gal Gadot.

However, one absent star is James Franco, who was removed from the cover in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations.

Vanity Fair told the Hollywood Reporter: “We made a decision not to include James Franco on the Hollywood cover once we learned of the misconduct allegations against him.”

Franco, who received a Golden Globe for his performance in The Disaster Artist, described the allegations as “not accurate”.

Does Reese Witherspoon have three legs? And does Oprah Winfrey have three hands?

That’s the question Twitter is asking after the Oscar-winner appeared on the latest Vanity Fair cover for its annual Hollywood issue along with megastars like Nicole Kidman, Tom Hanks, Jessica Chastain, Gal Gadot and Robert De Niro. Instead of focusing on the star power, fans are more concerned for Witherspoon’s lower-limbs and Winfrey’s extra left hand.

Witherspoon herself weighed in, announcing, “I have 3 legs. I hope you can still accept me for who I am.”

Winfrey also got in on the fun, telling Witherspoon, “I accept your 3rd leg.”

The Legally Blonde actress, 41, is pictured lounging on the arm of Winfrey’s chair while giving the mogul a squeeze, but her leg position appears… odd.

“Her flesh is not the same color as the inside of her dress,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Could be a Photoshop error,” mused another.

One fan went further, tweeting, “I just tried to arrange my leg in that position and tweaked my knee. Poor Reese.”

Weird. Could be a Photoshop error, but I'm not sure why they would have to Photoshop her leg into a different position. Most likely, what we see as the third "leg" is just the fabric of her dress that seems to match her skin tone because it's in shadow. — Frank (@GenusUnknown) January 25, 2018

Oh no, there are definitely 3. Look at the top of the slit. One leg upright/standing, then 2 legs angled/crossed. pic.twitter.com/g1VK5yDI1v — Elizabeth (@khamsin) January 25, 2018

Vanity Fair eventually responded, saying:

Winfrey and Witherspoon star in A Wrinkle in Time, out March 9.

Vanity Fair has come under fire for setting truly unrealistic body standards with its images of Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon. But this time, readers are not as concerned about photoshopped crease-free elbows or airbrushed cellulite. Instead, people are pointing out that the celebrities appear to have extra body parts.

Witherspoon and Winfrey feature prominently on the cover of Vanity Fair's annual Hollywood issue, which is published every awards season. The "Wrinkle in Time" stars have their arms around each other, but Witherspoon looks like she has a third leg, though Vanity Fair says it's simply the lining of her dress.

But a more glaring Photoshop error apparently took place in a behind-the-scenes image with Witherspoon and Winfrey, in which Winfrey seems to have three hands.

Vanity Fair removed the photo and said they were correcting the error, joking, "How can we expect her to juggle it all with just two hands?"

Winfrey and Witherspoon poked fun at the photos, joking that they accepted each other in spite of the extra body parts.

One Twitter user had fun with Vanity Fair's cover image, photoshopping in even more zany effects.

Recently, Winfrey spoke with Witherspoon and other Hollywood power players about the Time's Up movement.

Vanity Fair erased James Franco from its coveted Hollywood Portfolio cover due to the sexual misconduct allegations against him.

A Vanity Fair spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter the magazine decided not to include Franco on the cover “once we learned of the misconduct allegations against him.”

Franco was initially photographed for the cover along with 12 other stars, but he was digitally removed before production, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

OPRAH, REESE WITHERSPOON HAVE MAJOR PHOTOSHOP FAILS IN VANITY FAIR ISSUE

The cover, shot by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz, was done in November. Celebrities on the cover titled “12 Extraordinary Stars, One Momentous Year” included Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Chastain, Gal Gadot, Oprah Winfrey, Claire Foy, Harrison Ford, Zendaya, Michael B. Jordan, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Michael Shannon, Robert DeNiro and the magazine’s editor-in-chief Graydon Carter.

It was not immediately clear when the magazine decided to scrub Franco from the cover. Franco did not immediately comment on the exclusion.

Five women came forward to accuse Franco of sexual misconduct, the Los Angeles Times reported earlier this month. Franco told “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” that if he did “something wrong” he would “fix it.”

OSCARS SNUBS: TOM HANKS, SPIELBERG AND JAMES FRANCO LEFT OUT

Franco received a Golden Globe Award for best actor in a musical of comedy for his role in “The Disaster Artist.” Franco was not nominated for an Oscar for the role.

Besides Franco being edited out, Vanity Fair has come under scrutiny for other issues in the photo. Online readers pointed out it appeared Witherspoon had three legs on the cover. Another picture of Winfrey in the magazine showed her with three hands. Vanity Fair said Winfrey’s extra hand was “a mistake” but claimed Witherspoon’s dress lining made it appear she had three legs.
