EastEnders fans love Hannah Spearritt's soap debut as feisty Kandice

EASTENDERS fans went into meltdown as S Club 7's Hannah Spearritt made her debut appearance.

The former singer starred as Kandice, the rich sister of Walford resident Karen Taylor, first appearing in her own large home, before arriving on the Square in her fancy convertible.

BBC EastEnders viewers were delighted to see Hannah Spearritt appear in tonight's double bill

After initially refusing to lend her sister the £1,000 she needed to get the debt collectors off her back, she arrived in Walford to make amends.

As the sisters bickered, they finally ended up laughing at each other, just as the bailiffs arrived to empty Karen's flat.

Viewers couldn't get enough of Hannah's character and arrival on the show, taking to Twitter in their droves to comment.

One wrote: "Look at Hannah from S Club 7 making an appearance in #eastenders" while another added: "#EastEnders Ain't no party like an S Club party..."

It's a move that hasn't always been welcomed by soap fans. While not everyone has managed to mimic Hear'Say singer Kym Marsh's successful foray into the acting world, several pop stars have given it a crack. Blue singer Lee Ryan was a hit when he starred in EastEnders, but Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding was noticeably less popular when she made a cameo in Coronation Street. Tonight was the turn of S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt, who turned up in Albert Square as Karen Taylor's (Lorraine Stanley) wealthy sister Kandice.

“Kandice is on TV for like, two seconds, and I've already decided she's an EastEnders legend in the making.” Twitter user Karen had desperately turned to her sister after a Christmas splurge saw bailiffs start repossessing items. And while the pair initially butted heads, kind Kandice came round – and offered her sister £1000 to get the loan sharks off her back. Viewers loved Hannah's EastEnders debut, taking to Twitter to praise the singer for her sassy character. "I love Kandice already, she's so sassy!" tweeted one fan.

Speaking to the Mirror, she explained: "It's awesome to have EastEnders on my CV and to be in the Square and all that stuff. It's so surreal to be in the Square.
