Roxanne Modafferi def. Maycee Barber by unanimous decision (30-27 x 2, 30-26)

Veteran flyweight Roxanne Modafferi stunned previously unbeaten Maycee Barber as she scored a three-round unanimous decision victory over the highly-touted up and comer.

Scores were 30-27 twice and 30-26 for the No. 7-ranked Modafferi, who ups her record to 24-17. The No. 9-ranked Barber falls to 8-1.

Modafferi landed a couple good right hands in the opening minute that led to a takedown, and the veteran went to work, keeping Barber grounded and doing just enough to keep the fight on the mat. Barber nearly caught her foe with a choke, but Modafferi escaped and got into the mount just before the end of the frame.

Modafferi put Barber on the deck with a jab early in round two and the fight was back on the mat, where the Colorado native grabbed her knee in pain. Ninety seconds in, Modafferi got into the mount and then cut Barber with an elbow, but “The Future” was able to scramble her way into the top position. Modafferi stayed busy from the bottom and reversed position, nearly locking in an arm triangle. Barber was poised under pressure as she looked for daylight, but it was another round in the books for “The Happy Warrior.”

Between rounds, the Octagonside physician examined Barber and told referee Jason Herzog that she had a partial ACL tear, but he cleared her to continue. It was evident, though, that each shot Modafferi landed was staggering her because Barber’s leg was compromised. In the second minute, the two were back on the mat. With three minutes left, Barber reversed position and assumed control, firing off elbows until Modafferi got free and was able to take over for the rest of the bout.

It looks like Baker Mayfield’s star has fallen.

The lightning-rod Browns quarterback is attending Saturday’s UFC 246 fight between Conor McGregor and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, but you wouldn’t know it by the pay-per-view.

When the announcer was going through the NFL luminaries in attendance, he ignored Baker Mayfield. He first mentioned Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey and Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis but then it got interesting.

“Also the former No. 1 overall pick, Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. Nice to see Myles in the building,” he said as the camera showed Garrett and Mayfield to his left in a cowboy hat. “And also with us tonight … only the greatest of all time. Six-time Super Bowl champion from your New England Patriots Tom Brady.”

Oops.

Askar Askarov earned a unanimous decision victory over Tim Elliott Saturday night at UFC 246, after the Russian fighter was denied a spectacular first-round knockout by Elliott’s unbelievable recovery from a brutal shot to the jaw.

Askarov rocked Elliott early in the round with a right hand that caused Elliott to slump on his feet as if unconscious – but Elliott recovered in a split-second and continued to defend himself.

Elliott spent much of the third round fighting with his hands down, daring Askarov to light him up – and survived a ton of punishment from Askarov. Ultimately Elliott wasn’t able to save himself with a finish, and Askarov picked up the win.

When Tapasa saw a man attempting to steal from Best Buy in Hawaii she refused to let him make it out of the store. She jumped in front of the man and repeatedly blocked him by pushing him back.

And while Best Buy wasn’t happy with Tapasa’s heroics, that type of heart and courage is just what UFC President Dana White loves. So White posted the security footage of Tapasa on his social media platforms that racked up millions of views. He also added that he would be flying her out to be his personal guest for UFC 246: McGregor vs Cowboy.

On Friday, Tapasa found herself right in the middle of the faceoff between Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone at the UFC 246 weigh-ins. It’s safe to say that Tapasa won’t be forgetting this moment anytime soon.
