Forget a band. All you need is good, popular music and a great voice and you'll have 50,000 fans singing along to nearly every word of your songs.
Ed Sheeran stood alone on a big stage in front of a huge crowd with just his guitars and a looper as he performed nearly 20 songs during his almost two hour set. His only bells and whistles were a half UFO looking light and video screen type thing which showed different images and camera angles of Sheeran throughout each song.
Sheeran quickly and masterfully recreated the sounds of a band with his device, and while there's really no real substitute for a live band, it was almost mezmerizing to see Sheeran's creativity using the looper so flawlessly that most fans probably wouldn't have even known he was using it if he hadn't let them know after the first song.
"Tonight, everything you hear is going to be completely live. It comes from this guitar and this microphone and I use this thing on my feet called a looper."
