Comedian Accapan dies of kidney failure aged 63 - Nation


KUALA LUMPUR: Pelakon dan pelawak terkenal, Accapan atau nama sebenarnya, Samynathan Rethinam, 60, meninggal dunia akibat masalah kegagalan buah pinggang, pada jam 2.43 pagi tadi. Accapan meninggalkan seorang balu, Yogeswari Subramaniam, 53, dan tiga anak iaitu Vikneshwaran, 31, Dhineshwaran, 28, dan Yhuveneshwary, 24. Anak bongsu mendiang, Yhuveneshwary berkata, seluruh ahli keluarga berada di sisi ayah yang menghembuskan nafas terakhir di kediaman mereka di Puchong, Selangor. "Upacara penghormatan terakhir akan dilakukan di rumah di Taman Puchong Utama, kira-kira jam 3 petang ini," katanya dalam kenyataan di sini, hari ini. Mendiang Accapan adalah pelawak berbangsa India yang sangat dikenali dalam industri hiburan tempatan sejak era 1970-an. Namanya semakin sinonim sebagai pelawak apabila membintangi sitkom Santan Berlada pada era 1980-an bersama Khairul Azhar dan Allahyarham Ali Mamak. Mereka pernah merakamkan album Trio Santan Berlada dan Trio Santan Berlada II yang menampilkan irama dangdut, raggae, rock dan pop dalam bahasa Tamil. Kebanyakan seleksi adalah lagu Melayu yang ditukar liriknya. Dilahirkan di Parit Buntar, Perak pada 27 Januari 1958, figura seni itu turut menyerlah dia arena perfileman dengan kali terakhir membintangi filem Mamak Cupcake arahan Woo Ming Jin pada 2012. Antara filem lakonannya yang lain seperti Mira Edora, Sejati, Adik, Rimba Malam, Sahabat, Simfoni Kasih, Suratan Kasih, Bisikan Kasih, Ghazal Untuk Rabiah, Jin Notti dan Gila Bola. Persatuan Seniman Malaysia (SENIMAN) melalui Setiausaha Agungnya, Hafiz Nafiah turut mengucapkan takziah kepada keluarga mendiang.




PETALING JAYA: Famous comedian Samynathan Rethiman, popularly known as Accapan, has passed away early Friday morning (Sept 14) due to kidney failure.

Accapan was 63-years-old.

His son, Yhuveneshwary Samynathan, told mStar Accapan breathed his last night at about 2.43am at Taman Puchong Utama near here.

Accapan is survived by his wife Yogeswari Subramaniam, 53, and three children, Vikneshwaran Samynathan, 31, Dhineshwaran Samynathan, 28, and Yhuveneshwary Samynathan, 24.

The ceremony will be held at his home about 3 pm Friday.

From Parit Buntar in Perak, Acappan rose to popularity in the 1980s after his talent was first discovered on RTM sitcom Santan Berlada.

He also starred in local films including Mira Edora, True, Sister, Rimba Malam, Sahabat, Simfoni Kasih, Suratan Kasih, Bisikan Kasih and Ghazal for Rabiah.

He had been prominent in the 1980s and 90s, and was known for his role in local show Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu.

Anak bongsunya, Yhuveneshwary berkata, ayahnya yang bernama sebenar Samynathan A/L Rethinam menghembuskan nafas terakhir di sisi keluarga di rumahnya di Taman Puchong Utama akibat kegagalan buah pinggang. Memetik kenyataan yang dikeluarkan oleh Persatuan Seniman, upacara penghormatan terakhir akan dilakukan dirumah beliau kira-kira 3 petang hari ini di 12A Jalan PU 3/2A, Taman Puchong Utama 47140, Selangor. Accapan meninggalkan seorang isteri, Yogeswari Subramaniam, 53, dan tiga orang anak iaitu Vikneshwaran Samynathan, 31, Dhineshwaran Samynathan, 28, dan Yhuveneshwary Samynathan, 24. Beliau banyak berlakon di dalam drama dan filem tempatan dengan pelbagai watak yang mencuit hati penonton serta meninggalkan kesan kepada penonton. Antara drama popular yang mengangkat namanya kepada peminat Melayu ialah sitkom popular Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu dan Santan Berlada.

Veteran actor and comedian Samynathan Rethinam, better known as Accapan died early today. He was 63.

His daughter, Yhuveneshwary, said Acappan died at the family home at 2.43am due to a kidney ailment.

The funeral is scheduled for 3pm today at Taman Puchong Utama, Selangor.

Acappan is survived by his wife Yogeswari Subramaniam, 53, and three children Vikneshwaran, 31, Dhineshwaran, 28, and Yhuveneshwary, 24.

He had acted in many local dramas and movies and made his name through the popular 80s sitcom “Santan Berlada” in which he starred alongside Ali Mamak and Khairul Azhar, as well as “Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu”.

Meanwhile, Seniman secretary-general Hafiz Nafiah expressed condolences to the family of late Acappan.
