Transfer news, rumours as it happened: Manchester United snubbed by Diego Godin, Everton sign Andre Gomes, late Fulham spree, Arsenal exit plus Chelsea, Liverpool latest

Morning all,

Welcome to our live blog of the final day of this summer's transfer window, as Premier League clubs do the equivalent of a Red-Bull powered all-nighter on the eve of dissertation deadline.

In years gone by it would be customary to start a blog like this by poking fun at Sky Sports' overblown coverage of TDD, but that somehow feels a bit passe now. Even they seem to be in on the joke and as satire goes, sending it up now feels about as fresh as a Little Britain impression.

That said at least this year the whole thing has some novelty value with the window closing before the start of the season rather than the usual August 31 (that deadline remains in place in the other major European leagues - more on that here).

So, what can we expect today? Manchester United will surely be busy, as they try desperately to sign a centre-back. Leicester's Harry Maguire remains their main target despite failing with a bid to sign him yesterday, while they could also step up their attempts to sign Jerome Boateng from Bayern Munich and Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld.

The Premier League's transfer deadline day has closed Manchester United and Tottenham left with regrets.

Jose Mourinho was desperate to add at least one new face today but failed to do so with approaches for Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld, Leicester's Harry Maguire and Atletico Madrid's Diego Godin all coming to nothing. As Thibaut Courtois finally left for Real Madrid, Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic arrived on a season-long loan.

Everton were deadline day's biggest movers with Shakhtar Donetsk's Bernard arriving on a free transfer before sealing a double deal for Barcelona's Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes. Tottenham on the other hand became the first team since the introduction of the summer window not to sign a single player.

We will have all the latest news, late done deals plus all the latest reaction right here so don't touch that dial.

FULHAM NEWS Fulham's attempt to sign Andre Anguissa is going to go right to the wire Documents are still arriving to Marseille's training ground for the Sporting Director and midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa to complete a £27m move, according to French journalists. CARDIFF NEWS Oh goodness... BOURNEMOUTH NEWS Arter completes loan move to Cardiff Bournemouth's Harry Arter has joined newly promoted Cardiff City on a season loan deal after making 16 appearances for the Cherries in all competitions last season. Arter will not be available to play against Bournemouth in any meeting while he is at Cardiff. Vardy signs contract at Leicester Leicester City have completed another bit of business on deadline day, but this is no transfer. Jamie Vardy has signed a new four year contract at the King Power stadium which keeps at Leicester until 2022. Vardy joined Leicester in 2015 from non-league Fleetwood Town and scored 25 times in their 2015-16 title winning season. He scored in 11 consecutive matches and was close to wanted by Arsenal at the end of that season, but chose to stay at the Foxes. What is a deal sheet? A number of Premier League clubs are relying on deal sheets in order to complete their summer business, but what on earth are they? According to the Premier League website, a deal sheet: "allows a club to confirm that a deal has been reached in order to allow for additional time to submit the remaining documentation. "For a deadline of 17:00, the deal sheet cannot be used prior to 15:00 and needs to arrive fully completed before the transfer window closes. "Once the sheet arrives, clubs have got until 19:00 in which to submit the full paperwork." How bad was Manchester United's transfer window? "With the way Mourinho talks, and the mood around United right now, you would think this is going to be a miserable season due to a poor squad. "But that really isn’t the case." Is Manchester United's transfer really as bad as people are making out? Miguel Delaney thinks that it could be a lot worse. Mourinho's complaints fall on deaf ears but his squad is strong enough "THAT'S NOT FEKIR"

Chelsea fans react to a video which shows Callum Hudson-Odoi at the club's training ground. Chelsea were thought to be weighing up a late move but, sorry Chelsea fans, it's not happening! Penny for your thoughts, Poch? This makes pretty grim reading for Tottenham fans. Mind you, it's great if you're not a Spurs fan. The statistics that sum up Tottenham's sorry transfer window Fulham signing can't wait to get going, in a surprise turn of events Fulham signing Sergio Rico has thanked Fulham for bringing him to the Premier League in a £11m move. LEICESTER NEWS Done deal for Leicester Leicester City have confirmed they have reached an agreement with SC Freiburg to sign defender Caglar Soyuncu. The 22-year-old has agreed a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee which is believed to be in the region of around £17m which could rise to £22m. The move is subject to a work permit being granted, but is expected to be completed this evening. WATFORD NEWS Plenty of deal sheets have been submitted to the Premier League, and Watford are one of the clubs still looking to secure a signing. Their target is believed to be the promising Domingos Quina from West Ham. The Portuguese midfielder impressed at the U19 Euros earlier in the summer. FULHAM NEWS FULHAM ADD JOE BRYAN The versatile left-sided player was close to joining Aston Villa earlier in the week but turned them down in order to sign a deal at Craven Cottage. EVERTON NEWS No go for Mo Mo Besic's proposed transfer to Middlesborough has fallen through late on deadline day. The midfielder could yet be moved out of Everton to the Championship on loan, or to Europe as windows across the continent close later in August. STOKE NEWS SAM CLUCAS JOINS STOKE

Live Updates

FULHAM NEWS Another one Best social media game of the lot so far as Fulham announce their latest signing. Problem is they still haven't told us who it is... DONE DEAL Crystal Palace have announced the signing of Jordan Ayew (about time too) on a season-long loan deal (few of them about). Just a few more to go... DONE DEAL Watford have finally officially announced Domingos Quina EUROPEAN NEWS A reminder then that European clubs can still buy players for a good few weeks yet (bar the Italian sides, who've got about 10 days). I wonder whether we might see some sizeable moves now - surely waiting until you haven't got to compete with Premier League cash makes sense? DONE DEAL Viva Vietto We've been waiting for a while now for a Fulham announcement and here we have it. Luciano Vietto has joined on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid. Speaking at Motspur Park, Vietto told fulhamfc.com: “I’m very happy to come to the Club and sign. I’m very excited to get started with the team tomorrow. “It’s an important change for me because this is my first experience here in England. I hope to do as well as possible.” CRYSTAL PALACE NEWS It looks like Jordan Ayew's move to Crystal Palace is done and dusted. His brother, Andre, has tweeted a picture of the former Swansea man in a Palace home shirt. Holding a Palace away shirt. Just in case there was any confusion. DONE DEAL They're all coming through now. A real coup this for Watford, who have secured the signing of West Ham's Domingos Quina on a four-year deal. As I mentioned earlier, the youngster is extremely highly rated and was a star of Portugal's run to the U19 European Championships this summer. Photo: Getty Not a transfer - quite the opposite in fact - but Jamie Vardy has signed a new four year contract at Leicester City. Were he to see that deal all the way through, that would mark a decade with the Foxes. DONE DEAL Cardiff City have confirmed the signing of Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter on a season-long loan. Deals still to be done... We're still expecting a few more announcements this evening so stick with us. Fulham have got about 26 deal sheets pending, while Everton are in a similar ballpark. We also expect Jordan Ayew to join Crystal Palace but Southampton are under the kosh to get Danny Ings done in time. Half hour to go until the deal sheet deadline, theoretically. DONE DEAL Leicester have agreed a £19million deal to sign Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu from Freiburg. The 22-year-old, who had been linked with Arsenal, will sign a five-year contract, subject to a work permit being granted. WEST HAM NEWS Various reports are suggesting that West Ham youngster Domingos Quina is in talks to join Watford. That is the same Domingos Quina who was linked with Barcelona earlier this summer after a string of excellent performances for Portugal at the U19 European Championships. Photo: Getty DONE DEAL The newly formed Signing Announcement Videos Department at Fulham have been earning their keep. It had all gone a little bit quiet on this one but they have now confirmed the signing of left-back Joe Bryan from Bristol City. PREMIER LEAGUE NEWS Mo Besic's proposed £6million move from Everton to Middlesbrough has fallen through, according to Sky Sports News. A deal had been sorted between the two clubs earlier this afternoon but personal terms could not be agreed. Ah well, at least Everton haven't been busy bringing in replacements... Photo: Getty Some good news around London While we wait for those deal sheets and injury time negotiations, is worth reflecting on a couple of excellent bits of business further down the leagues that actually involved no business at all. Brentford managed to keep hold of star midfielder Ryan Woods amidst speculation about a £7million move to Swansea. Similarly, Joe Aribo is still a Charlton player despite interest from Southampton - it was crucial they kept him after selling Ezri Konsa to Brentford. Photo: Reuters ES COVERAGE Extensions? I should pause for a second here to explain just how those extensions work. Essentially, if two clubs agree a deal at the last knockings they can submit something called, rather appropriately, a deal sheet, confirming the agreement. As long as that is in before the 5pm deadline, the two clubs then have until 7pm to complete the rest of the necessary paperwork. PREMIER LEAGUE NEWS Out of nowhere! Our man David Lynch has confirmed that Southampton's move for Liverpool forward Danny Ings is still alive DONE DEAL Fulham's Deadline Day five-a-side team is really taking shape now. They've confirmed the signing of Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico on a season-long loan. FULHAM NEWS I don't even know what to say at this point. Something remarkable has been happening all summer at Fulham but it's reached tipping point this afternoon. They've also agreed a £30million deal to sign Marseille midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa. Photo: Getty Remember when £30m transfers were summer-long sagas for the biggest names in football? Fulham have just plucked one out of thin air in stoppage time. PREMIER LEAGUE NEWS As we expected, it looks like Andre Gomes is also on his way to Goodison Park. Barcelona and Everton have agreed a loan fee of €2.25million, with Everton paying the Portuguese's wages. Next

16:41 KEY EVENT

Matt Taylor on Exeter business

Exeter City manager Matt Taylor has answered some questions about today’s transfer deadline.

Q: Are you likely to do any transfer business?

A: Probably not any permanent business, but we could do in terms of free signings or players that are on contract elsewhere. But I am still looking to boost the squad, so they might be loans towards the end of the month.

Like I said, we have a good enough squad in place at the moment, but the bodies and players I bring in have to make a difference. I am not just going to fill the squad now, I want players that will make a difference on the pitch.

They have to be right for the club and right for the squad, so I am going to take my time in terms of the next couple of signings.

Q: You said to us on Saturday you’ll be throwing your phone in the canal…

A: It’s still in the canal! I’ll go and get it out at 5 o’clock! It’s been relatively quiet from our point of view, I did most of my business pretty early, which I feel is the best way. You don’t want to be going down to the last minute, but the next window might be totally different.

We have said time and time again that if our players are playing well, then there will be interest, it’s as simple as that. We produce good young players as well, so Exeter City are a club that has always had interest in the transfer window off the back of good young players, but I am not expecting anything to happen in the next few hours.

Q: We saw Jayden Stockley here training today, he has attracted a bit of interest, but it is great to see him here with the rest of the lads.

(Image: Tom Sandberg/PPAUK)

A: With his new haircut? He has a new haircut, but we looked after him this week off the back of spending some time with his family and that’s the most important thing, he has a healthy baby and a healthy family at home, so everyone is delighted for Jayden.

I know he will be disappointed off the back of not scoring at the weekend, but he was excellent again and I ask for the same from him every week, week in, week out.
