Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ engagement ceremony was full of colour, tradition and style. The roka ceremony took place according to Punjabi tradition at Priyanka’s residence on Saturday morning. While Nick Jonas popped the question in London in July and Priyanka Chopra said yes, the couple now solemnised their engagement with their families present. The Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas roka ceremony was a private affair with only the family and some close friends present.
Both Priyanka and Nick chose desi attires for the engagement. According to reports, the traditional engagement ceremony will be followed by an engagement party in the evening that will begin late.

After months of rumours and speculation, Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra and American singer Nick Jonas made their relationship official with a roka ceremony held on Saturday morning. The roka ceremony will be followed by a star-studded party later tonight where Nick will meet Priyanka’s friends and colleagues.

Nick Jonas’ parents are also in the country to attend the bash along with the Chopra family. A source close to indianexpress.com earlier revealed that the Chopras booked 200 rooms in a hotel for the guests, many of whom are arriving from the United States. Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra, Sophie Choudry and Raveena Tandon are expected to attend the ceremony tonight.
E! News had learned about Priyanka and Nick's engagement in July. The two have been together since at least May.
"It's a tradition for [the families] to meet before the wedding and Priyanka's family insisted on hosting the Jonas family in their country," the source said. "Priyanka wants everything to be traditional to respect her family's values, and definitely an Indian wedding."
"Priyanka and Nick are excited for everyone to meet and to celebrate," the source added. "All of the plans are moving quickly and Priyanka and Nick do not want to have a long engagement."
In India, engaged couples take part in many pre-wedding events, including an traditional engagement ceremony, where they exchange rings. Their families exchange gifts. At the airport in Mumbai, Nick's father carried a large Tiffany & Co. bag.
The singer had proposed to Priyanka with a massive Tiffany & Co. diamond engagement ring, which is estimated to be worth nearly $200,000.
In June, Nick had accompanied Priyanka to a visit to India and vacationed with her family. During their trip, they also attended a traditional pre-engagement ceremony and party for Akash Ambani, the son of billionaire oil tycoon and India's richest man Mukesh Ambani, and his partner Shloka Mehta.
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra enjoyed some alone time ahead of their big weekend.
The engaged couple was spotted at the JW Marriott in Mumbai, India, after he arrived at the airport with his parents, Kevin Sr. and Denise Jonas.
Jonas, 25, was dressed in a navy dress shirt and patterned grey pants while his bride-to-be Chopra, 36, wore a plaid patterned white dress.
The pair, who have been dating since May, walked hand-in-hand and gazed lovingly into each other’s eyes. Noticeably on her left hand was the Tiffany’s diamond engagement ring he presented to her when he proposed on her birthday during a London getaway in July.
Their outing marked the first time Chopra was seen wearing the sparkler in public after she debuted it on Tuesday.

While this is Nick’s second time visiting Chopra’s home country, this is his father and mother’s first time in India.
On June 22, he and Chopra traveled to India where they met her mother Madhu during their week-long getaway in the country.

“We’re getting to know each other and I think it was a great experience for him,” Chopra previously told PEOPLE of Jonas’ trip.
“That’s what he said. I think he really enjoyed it. It was really beautiful. He had a great time,” she added.
PEOPLE reported on Monday that Nick’s parents would be coming to India to meet his Chopra’s family, including her mother Madhu and brother Siddharth.
