Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and pop singer Jacob Sartorius have called it quits after seven months of dating, they confirmed via Instagram stories on Tuesday (July 31).

Millie, 14, and Jacob, 15, first went public with their relationship in December, and teen fans swooned over their sweet Valentine's Day messages and romantic couple pics. They each posted similar messages to confirm the breakup, but assured fans they would remain friends.

"The decision w mills was completely mutual & we are both happy and remaining friends," Sartorius wrote in his Instagram stories message, while Brown posted, "The decision with Jacob and i was completely mutual. We are both happy and remaining friends.

The teen romance is over for the 14-year-old Emmy-nominated actress and the 15-year-old singer. The former couple, who were first romantically linked at the start of 2018, confirmed their breakup in matching Instagram Stories statements on Tuesday.

"The decision was Jacob and I was completely mutual," Brown wrote on her account. "We are both happy and remaining friends."

The performer echoed the sentiment with virtually the same statement on his own page.

The pair were a couple for seven months

Millie Bobby Brown has announced her split with singer Jacob Sartorius, saying that the pair “remain friends”.

The Stranger Things actress and Sartorius confirmed the split with statements on their Instagram stories yesterday (July 31).

“The decision with Jacob and I was completely mutual,” Brown wrote in her Story. “We are both happy and remaining friends.” Sartorius echoed the sentiment, writing that they were “happy and remaining friends.” You can see Brown’s Instagram story below.

The teenagers were together for around seven months, after confirming their relationship with an Instagram snap on New Years Eve.

Back in February, Sartorius posted a pic of the pair, celebrating Brown’s 14th birthday. “Happy birthday to this beautiful girl, 14!! you’re the funniest, most caring person in the entire world,” he wrote. “I hope this year brings you lots of great memories and moments you remember forever. Can’t wait to see you, I love you and miss you so much!!”

Meanwhile, Brown is gearing up to star in the forthcoming ‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters’. She plays Madison Russell in the new film, while Vera Farmiga will play her mother, Dr. Emma Russell.

Director Michael Dougherty describe the movie as: “The world is reacting to Godzilla in the same way we would react to any other terrifying incident, in that we are overreacting.”

Godzilla hasn’t been seen since the events in the 2014 movie but Dougherty says “there’s paranoia and endless speculation about whether he is the only one out there or whether we’re threatened by others like his kind.”

A first-look clip at the new movie was recently released, which saw Brown trying to reach Monarch Sciences – the organization that studies the monsters in the film. While there’s no reply to begin with, Brown is soon faced with a series of horrible, screechy sounds.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be released next year and also stars Academy Award nominee Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler and Bradley Whitford.

No matter how old you are or how long you’ve been together, ending a relationship is never easy. And we’re sad to say that Millie Bobby Brown and her boyfriend, singer Jacob Sartorius, have officially broken up.

The Stranger Things actress and the “Sweatshirt” singer each posted about the split today, July 31st, on their Instagram Stories, writing in complementary statements that they’re (thankfully) both doing well. The two had been together for about seven months before deciding to go their separate ways.

"The decision with Jacob and I was completely mutual," Brown wrote in her Story. "We are both happy and remaining friends."

Sartorius echoed Brown in his own Story, writing again that the breakup was a mutual decision and they were “happy and remaining friends.” Brown and Sartorius were first romantically linked at the end of 2017, and as UsMagazine.com notes, they even spent New Year’s Eve together with their families at Walt Disney World.

In late January, Brown posted a black and white selfie of the two with a December 31st date stamp, making their relationship Insta official. That same month, Sartorius tweeted that he felt the future would be “better w you in it,” which many took to be about Brown.

The young couple occasionally posted sweet messages to each other throughout their relationship, including Sartorius’s adorable message to Brown on Twitter when she turned 14.

Happy birthday to this beautiful girl, 14!! you’re the funniest, most caring person in the entire world. I hope this year brings you lots of great memories and moments you remember forever. Breakups are never easy, and we’re wishing Brown and Sartorius the best as they move forward.
