Datuk Mahadzir Lokman passes away in Sabah





TV personality Datuk Mahadzir Lokman is reported to have passed away this morning (Aug 3).

Best known for his stint as a newscaster at TV3 and as an emcee, Mahadzir was at a hotel in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, when he passed away. He was 61.

His older sister said that the doctors in Sabah confirmed his passing. She said the family members are making arrangements to go to Sabah to bring back the body to be buried in Petaling Jaya.

In September last year, Mahadzir was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after he was found unconscious at his home.

In that report it said that Mahadzir, a diabetic, was suffering from numerous complications, including pneumonia.

But he was later discharged and was said to be in good spirits.

Retired news anchor ​Wan Zaleha Radzi shared that Mahadzir – also known as Datuk Dale – was an exceptional, rare and multitalented, individual. “He was extremely good company and very entertaining to be with. He always made me laugh, and I mean the rolling on the floor sort.”

Wan Zaleha added that Mahadzir was a very kind and generous person.

“He showed me the ropes when I first joined TV3, gave me loads of useful advice and taught me many things in my broadcasting and emceeing career that I treasure and will never forget,” she said.

“Some of my fondest memories with him have to do with the laughter and camaraderie that always surround him; good food and his constant advice and ribbing.

“Datuk Dale, you will be much missed.”


PETALING JAYA: Bekas pengacara TV3, Datuk Mahadzir Lokman meninggal dunia pada awal pagi Jumaat.

Beliau yang berumur 61 tahun dilaporkan meninggal dunia di sebuah hotel di Kota Kinabalu, Sabah kira-kira pukul 6 pagi selepas menunaikan solat Subuh.

Berita kematian itu disahkan oleh adiknya, Ida Lokman.

Allahyarham dikatakan mempunyai urusan kerja di Kota Kinabalu. Pihak keluarga masih belum dapat mengesahkan punca kematian beliau.

Pada tahun lalu Mahadzir dimasukkan ke Unit Rawatan Rapi (ICU) Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya (PPUM) akibat komplikasi buah pinggang dan paru-paru.

Ketika ini keluarga personaliti itu sedang menguruskan jenazah Allahyarham untuk dibawa pulang ke Kuala Lumpur.

Mahadzir Lokman ketika dirawat di Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya pada tahun lalu.

Menyusuri kerjayanya, Mahadzir yang merupakan anak seorang duta pernah bersama bapanya Datuk Lokman Musa tinggal di Paris sektar tahun 1978 sehingga 1983.

Beliau yang berkelulusan Ijazah Sarjana Muda dan Sarjana Pengurusan Perniagaan dari Universiti Ohio ini berkebolehan menguasai enam bahasa termasuklah bahasa Perancis dan sering dijemput menjadi juru acara dalam program bertaraf antarabangsa.

Dalam bidang penyairan, Mahadzir memulakan kerjayanya di TV3 pada tahun 1984 dan diberi kepercayaan menjadi penyampai berita berbahasa Melayu dan Inggeris.

Beliau juga pernah menjadi pengacara hiburan Melodi dan perentis stesen televsiyen itu semasa operasi awalnya.

Selepas meninggalkan kerjayanya dalam bidang penyiaran, Allahyarham membuka syarikat perhubungan awam dikenali sebagai Dale Lokman Comunications dan menjadi juruacara sambilan sehingga hayatnya.

Dalam pada itu, sumber polis berkata, Mahadzir dilaporkan telah mendaftar masuk di sebuah hotel di Kota Kinabalu bersama rakan baiknya Datin Dr Maimunah bersama suami dan dua orang anak dan mengambil bilik berasingan.

Menurut kenalan rapat beliau, kali terakhir berjumpa dengan mangsa pada Khamis pukul 10.40 malam selepas selesai makan malam dan masing-masing pulang ke bilik.

Dimaklumkan juga, pada subuh pagi Jumaat, beliau sempat menghantar pesanan ucapan selamat pagi di kumpulan Whatsapp pukul 5 pagi.

Namun lebih kurang pukul 9.30 pagi, kenalan rapatnya memanggil pengadu tetapi tiada jawapan sebelum pihak hotel diminta untuk membuka pintu bilik dan mangsa didapati tidak sedarkan diri dan disahkan meninggal dunia oleh doktor yang dipanggil memberi rawatan.

Tambah jurucakap polis, tiada unsur-unsur jenayah mengenai kematian itu namun pihaknya sedang menjalankan siasatan.

Mahadzir was at a hotel in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, when he passed away. He was 61.

Mahadzir's remains will brought from Kota Kinabalu at about 11.05pm and are expected to arrive at the residence of his family at Section 16, Petaling Jaya around 2am on Saturday (Aug 4).

Funeral prayers will be held at 9.30am at his family's residence on Saturday.

Mahadzir's family said his remains will be buried at around 10.30am at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery.

Last year, Mahadzir was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the University Malaya Medical Centre because of lung and kidney complications.
