Datuk Mahadzir Lokman passes away in Sabah

TV personality Datuk Mahadzir Lokman is reported to have passed away this morning (Aug 3).

Best known for his stint as a newscaster at TV3 and as an emcee, Mahadzir was at a hotel in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, when he passed away. He was 61.

His older sister said that the doctors in Sabah confirmed his passing. She said the family members are making arrangements to go to Sabah to bring back the body to be buried in Petaling Jaya.

In September last year, Mahadzir was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after he was found unconscious at his home.

In that report it said that Mahadzir, a diabetic, was suffering from numerous complications, including pneumonia.

But he was later discharged and was said to be in good spirits.

Retired news anchor Wan Zaleha Radzi shared that Mahadzir – also known as Datuk Dale – was an exceptional, rare and multitalented, individual. “He was extremely good company and very entertaining to be with. He always made me laugh, and I mean the rolling on the floor sort.”

Wan Zaleha added that Mahadzir was a very kind and generous person.

“He showed me the ropes when I first joined TV3, gave me loads of useful advice and taught me many things in my broadcasting and emceeing career that I treasure and will never forget,” she said.

“Some of my fondest memories with him have to do with the laughter and camaraderie that always surround him; good food and his constant advice and ribbing.

“Datuk Dale, you will be much missed.”
