Champions Germany have crashed out of the World Cup in humiliating fashion in Russia.
Dramatic late goals from Kim Young-gwon and Son Heung-min sealed a dream win for South Korea in Kazan, leaving Joachim Loew’s side languishing at the bottom of Group F.
Sweden came from nowhere to thrash leaders Mexico in Ekaterinburg and snatch first place in a bizarre pool.
Ludwig Augustinsson, an Andreas Granqvist penalty and an own goal courtesy of Edson Alvarez secured top spot in fine style.
Mexico can breathe a sigh of relief, though, as they qualify in second place thanks to the Deutschland disaster.
Germany had looked nailed on to grind out their last 16 passage.
Toni Kroos’ 95th-minute strike against the Swedes last time out sealed a comeback success that looked to have breathed life into their campaign, following the opening afternoon loss to the Mexicans.
It also looked to have sent the Scandinavians spinning towards the exit.
Not so.
The top two could now face any pair from Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland in the first knockout round.
South Korea, meanwhile, head back east with a win to be proud of.
As for Germany – they’re looking for some fresh headgear with their World Cup crown well and truly toppled.
