MOSKWA, KOMPAS.com - Meksiko berhasil mengalahkan juara bertahan Jerman dengan skor tipis 1-0 pada laga penyisihan grup F, Minggu (17/6/2018). Pada laga ini, pemain gaek timnas Meksiko, Rafael Marquez, mencatat rekor penampilan.
Jerman kalah akibat gol Hirving Lozano pada menit ke-35. Dengan kekalahan ini, rekor tidak terkalahkan Jerman pada laga pembuka Piala Dunia di tujuh edisi terakhir terputus.
Rekor personal dicatat Rafael Marquez. Mantan kapten timnas Meksiko yang masuk sebagai pemain pengganti menjadi pemain ketiga dengan rekor lima penampilan di Piala Dunia.

The Atlas defender will become the fourth player to play in the competition five times and could be the first player to captain the nation in all of them.

How old is Rafael Marquez?
Rafael Marquez is 39 years old, having been born on February 13, 1989.
He started his career with Atlas in 1996 before making a move to Europe with Monaco in 1999.
After helping Didier Deschamps' side reach the Champions League final in 2003, where they lost 3-0 to Porto, he made a £5m move to Barcelona in 2003.
Marquez spent seven years with Barca, winning two Champions Leagues before moving to New York Red Bulls in 2010.
After seasons at Leon and Hellas Verona, the centre-back returned to Atlas in 2016 and retired from club football there in May this year.

How long has Rafael Marquez played for Mexico for?
Rafael Marquez has spent 21 years playing for El Tri, having made his debut against Ecuador in 1997.
The former Barcelona star has not missed a World Cup since the 2002 tournament in Japan.
Marquez was targeted by the United States treasury last August over alleged links to drug trafficking, allegations which Marquez denied.
He played his final home game for Mexico when he came on as a substitute in June's 1-0 friendly win against Scotland, his first appearance for the national team since the 2017 Confederations Cup.
But he will not be the oldest World Cup player if he makes an appearance in Russia.
That accolade is still held by Colombian goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon, who played in his nation’s 4-1 win against Japan at the 2014 World Cup aged 43.
Mexico open their tournament against world champions Germany, before facing South Korea and Sweden in Group F.
RAFAEL MARQUEZ equalled the record of World Cup appearances when he came on for Mexico in their 1-0 shock win over Germany.
Former Barcelona defender Marquez ensured he drew level with the record after coming on in his fifth World Cup on Sunday.

The 39-year-old replaced Andres Guardado in the 74th minute in the Luzhniki Stadium.
He is now level with fellow Mexican Antonio Carbajal and Germany legend Lothar Matthäus on five World Cup appearances.
Marquez's first time to the tournament came in 2002 in South Korea when Mexico were eliminated by the United States at the last-16 stage.
In fact, Mexico have reached and gone out in the round of 16 at the last six tournaments.

Marquez made his debut for the national team in 1997 but didn't make the squad to France.
There is a chance the veteran may retire from football at the end of the World Cup as he is currently unattached to any club.
He left Mexican club Atlas in April after two-and-a-half years back at the club where he began his career in 1996.
Marquez became a household name after impressing at Monaco and then Barcelona from 2003 to 2010, when he won four La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues.
