SHAH ALAM: Former PKR member Badrul Hisham Shahrin, popularly known as Chegubard, has lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against two PKR leaders over an alleged land scam in Petaling Jaya.

Badrul claimed that the two leaders as well as a representative from Mentri Besar Incorporated (MBI) may have sold two parcels of land worth RM1bil at a lower value.

The Selangor Religious Council (MAIS) lands measuring 3.9ha were initially given to Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor to be managed before it was placed under the care of MBI.

Badrul, who is the founder of the Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM), said a company had offered to develop the land with a gross development value payment of 30% (from RM1bil) to be paid within seven years.

However, after an alleged meeting between the leaders and the developers at a hotel in Petaling Jaya, the latter were asked to resubmit their proposal papers in Feb 2016.

“We were told that in the meeting, the representatives had requested the value be reduced and the difference be paid as a ‘political donation’,” Chegubard alleged at a press conference here Tuesday.

When asked if he had proof or a video recording, Badrul said he had digital file of the conversation as proof as well as eyewitnesses.

Badrul said the company, in a letter, declined the deal and offered to retain the original offer.

The last dated letter sent to the developer was Jan 26, 2017.

“Finally, in December 2017, a different developer made a public announcement saying it has obtained the right to develop the parcel with a lower value of 16% GDV (from RM1bil) to be paid over 10 years,” he said.

Badrul questioned the rationale of giving the contract to a party that was offering to pay a lower amount over a longer period.

“I received official letters, email copies, DVDs and several documents from the companies listed with handwritten notes allegedly from the PKR leaders,” he said.

According to him, the sources who furnished him the details a week earlier were willing to speak up as well.

When contacted, Selangor MACC declined to comment.

PETALING JAYA: The Chinese community is not responding as positively to the PKR party symbol as the DAP had hoped, says Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

"Lim Kit Siang is in a dilemma because the Chinese are not responding as positively to the PKR symbol as hoped and there appears to be some resistance," said the Umno treasurer in a blog post on Monday (May 7).

He claimed that Lim should have listened to DAP founding member Dr Chen Man Hin to retain the party's "rocket" symbol instead of switching to PKR's.

"Now DAP is attempting to do damage control by displaying both the PKR symbol as well as DAP's rocket symbol," he said.

However, he called this a "deception", adding that DAP was in fact not confident of the PKR symbol and had instead created a "bigger mess" for DAP.
