Emergency services are at the scene of a crash in Great Dunmow near to the Tesco Superstore.
Stortford Road is slow in both directions between the A120 and Rosemary Lane following the accident this morning (May 7).
As a result of the crash, the road had to be closed.
Police, paramedics and firefighters are in attendance.
The accident happened around 10am this morning near to the Tesco Superstore roundabout and traffic is building.
Shoppers can still access the Tesco store, despite the crash.
Essex County Fire & Rescue said: "Firefighters assisted at the scene of a road traffic collision this morning.
"Crews reported on arrival that one man was trapped in a van, following a collision involving another car.
"Firefighters were able to release the man by 10.20am, before leaving him in the care of the Ambulance Service."
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible while the respective services deal with the incident.
Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
