Who is Tamsin Greig, how old is she and what is her background?

Tamsin Greig is a 51-year-old British stage and screen actress born in Kent and raised in London.

She found fame through Dylan Moran's sitcom Black Books, in which she played shopkeeper Fran Katzenjammer for three series, starting in 2000.

But she began her acting career through a role in BBC Radio 4 drama The Archers from 1991, playing Debbie Aldridge - who is still technically in the soap, though she's currently in Hungary.

Tamsin also met her husband Richard Leaf while working on the movie of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere in 1996.

After Black Books, Tamsin was cast as Dr Caroline Todd in Green Wing, the surreal Channel 4 sitcom set in a hospital - the first show she worked on with Stephen Mangan.

She then appeared in telly dramas Love Soup, The Diary Of Anne Frank, Emma and Terry Pratchett's Going Postal.

In 2011 she worked with Mangan again - along with Friends star Matt LeBlanc, playing himself - on sitcom Episodes, in which she and Mangan play married writers who struggle to work in harmony with LeBlanc in the States.

This got the attention of comedy fans in the UK and the US, but she'd already broken the film industry by then, having acted in Cuckoo, Tamara Drewe, Captain Eager and the Mark of Voth and Breaking The Bank with co-star Kelsey Grammer.

Alongside all this, Tamsin has been in several acclaimed stage productions and even won a gong for her part as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing in 2007.

Is Tamsin married and does she have children?

Since 1997 Tamsin has been married to fellow actor Richard Leaf who she starred with in Neverwhere.

They have three children - Jakob, Nathanael and Roxie.

The family lives in Kensal Green, London.

When does Episodes season 5 return to BBC Two?

Episodes started on BBC Two on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 10pm.

It went up against the news on BBC One, Fast & Furious 7 on ITV, a new comedy called Lee and Dean on Channel 4 and the Will & Grace reboot on C5.

Episodes is about a British husband-and-wife comedy writing duo who head to Hollywood to find American success, meeting a number of larger-than-life TV executives along the way and of course, Matt Le Blanc.

Tamsin Greig has revealed people do not hold back when they recognise her in public places.

The former Black Books and Green Wing star has told some humorous anecdotes of encounters she has had with fans while going about her everyday life.

Greig, 51, has had a long-standing reoccurring part as Debbie Aldridge in BBC Radio 4 series The Archers.

She told The Graham Norton Show that regular listeners of the programme readily share their opinions on her performances when they speak to her.

She said: “I don’t know what it is, but people think they can say anything to me.

“The other day someone said, ‘You’re much better at acting than you used to be!’.

“And, when I was heavily pregnant I was shopping for paint. I was down on all fours looking for the colour on the bottom shelf and the only thing you could see of me was my very big pregnancy bum.

“Someone came up to me and said, ‘Well, if it isn’t Debbie Aldridge!’.

“Another person said, ‘I love you in The Archers. You pause so well’.

“So, I thought, ‘You think I am at my best when you can’t see me and I am silent!’.”

The Graham Norton Show airs on Friday at 10.35pm, on BBC One.

Note to fans of The Archers, leave poor Tamsin Greig alone please.

The 51-year-old actress has been a recurring player on the BBC Radio 4 soap opera for more than 25 years as Debbie Aldridge, a character who apparently has a very, very dedicated fanbase. Maybe a little too dedicated...

Tamsin was chatting on The Graham Norton Show on Friday (April 27), when Graham asked about her most embarrassing encounter with an Archers fan. We don't think anyone was prepared for her answer.

Keep in mind that Tamsin Greig is only heard on The Archers, not seen! Unfortunately for Tamsin, that wasn't the only time she's been accosted by an over-eagerArchers fan.

Tamsin is currently wrapping her role as sitcom writer Beverly Lincoln in the final season of Episodes on BBC Two, alongside Matt LeBlanc and Stephen Mangan.

The Graham Norton Show airs at 10.30pm on BBC One, with the fun continuing next week as well with Stephen Mangan and music from pop sensation Jess Glynne.
