EASTER Sunday is here and for many people the long weekend means at least one or two last-minute trips to the shops.

When is Tesco open over Easter?

The majority of Tesco stores will be closed on Easter Sunday for the entire day.

On Easter Monday all stores in England and Wales will open between 9am and 6pm except Tesco Express stores, which will operate normal hours.

Make sure you double check with your local store using the store finder on their website.

When is Asda open over Easter?

Opening and closing times can vary from store to store, so it's always important to check your local branch using the store finder on their website.

All stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are shut on Easter Sunday although stores in Scotland will be open as normal.

On Easter Monday stores will again be open but with potentially reduced hours.

Customers are advised to check their local store for exact timings.

When is Sainsbury's open over Easter?

A large number of Sainsbury's Local stores will be open over Easter but there may well be differences for the bank holiday weekend hours.

On Easter Sunday supermarkets in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be closed for the day but most convenience stores and petrol station outlets will be open.

In Scotland, Sainsbury's stores will be staying open for the day.

On bank holiday Monday, April 2, some stores are opening for shorter days while others - particularly in London - will resume service as usual.

Make sure you check yours to be sure, as times vary shop to shop using the store finder on their website.

When is Morrisons open over Easter?

Morrisons will be open as normal on Saturday, so you can do your big shop or last-minute Easter egg run.

Stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 1,for the entire day.

But Morrisons stores in Scotland are planning on opening as usual.

On Easter Monday, stores will be operating but opening times will vary and may be slightly reduced at some shops.

When is Waitrose open over Easter 2018?

On Good Friday and Easter Monday, the majority of Waitrose shops will be open from 8am to 7pm with some Little Waitrose stores opening at 7am and 9pm.

Waitrose shops in England and Wales will be closed on Easter Sunday.

All Waitrose shops will operate normal trade hours on Saturday.

It is advisable to check your local store's opening hours in advance.

When is Aldi open over Easter?

Stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be closed on Easter Sunday, April 1,for the entire day.

But Aldi stores in Scotland are planning on opening as usual.

Saturday - 8am to 10pm

Easter Sunday - CLOSED

Easter Monday - 8am to 8pm

When is Lidl open over Easter?

On Easter Sunday, all stores in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be shut but Scottish stores will open as normal.

And on bank holiday Monday stores will operate slightly reduced hours of 8am to 8pm.

Lidl do stress that individual stores may have slight variations so they recommend you check the posters in your local store using the store finder on their website..

When are the Easter holidays 2018?

This year Good Friday fell on March 30 and Easter Monday is on April 2 – while the school break is two weeks long.

The celebration for most adults will be a four-day weekend as Good Friday and Easter Monday are also bank holidays.

For most kids, the school holidays this year start on Thursday, March 29, through to Monday, April 16.

Normally, the county council sets the holiday dates – although schools sometimes change the weeks.

Academies and private schools are given more autonomy and often have different holiday dates and length to state comprehensives.

Easter means a glorious four day break, but what happens if you need to nip to the shops over the Bank Holiday weekend because you're running low on essentials?

Many major supermarkets will be operating reduced hours over the Easter weekend, and that includes Tesco .

However, all smaller Express and Metro stores will remain open - even on Easter Sunday.So don't get caught without enough Easter treats and hot cross buns over the long break.

Aldi Ireland stores will be closed on Easter Sunday, and they’ve confirmed opening hours across the rest of the weekend too.

Dunnes Stores opening hours will vary across the country over the long weekend.

Most Dunnes shops will be open normal hours on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.

SuperValu shops’ opening hours will vary across the country due to different store ownerships.

Tesco Ireland

Tesco Ireland chiefs say opening hours will “vary for some facilities” over the long weekend.

But they have set hours for all of their stores across Good Friday and Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday available on their site as they urged punters to check store details for weekend information.

Plenty of their shops will still be open late over the few days including Easter Sunday – with closing times of 10pm and 11pm.

You can easily make sure you won’t be left stuck this Easter weekend by checking your local store’s times here.

Meanwhile, Lidl Ireland have revealed their own bargain hot tub – and it’s €50 cheaper than Aldi’s version.
