London Marathon runners faced record temperatures for the gruelling 26.2 mile race.
The mass race kicked off at 10 am and temperatures hit 23C - making it the hottest London Marathon on record.
Runners faced uncomfortable conditions, but the sunshine and warm weather was expected to lead to one of the biggest crowds ever turning out to cheer on the 47,000 runners.

Viewers are complaining about the BBC’s ‘terrible’ London Marathon coverage (Picture: BBC)
Many viewers have been struggling to catch the London Marathon from home as the BBC’s coverage kept ‘falling out’.
People have taken to Twitter to slam the ‘unwatchable’ livestream from the 26-mile race today, branding it glitchy and bad quality.

One angry viewer wrote: ‘The @BBC needs to sort out their coverage of the London Marathon, it’s absolutely dreadful, sort the camera work out.
‘You can’t watch it for more than 30 seconds without the camera’s breaking up the picture.’
The BBC’s website promised ‘uninterrupted live coverage’ of the marathon, but people hoping to catch the elite race from their own sofas were left frustrated by ‘jumpy’ pictures.

Some viewers even accused the channel of ‘ruining’ the men’s elite race as pictures kept cutting out as Eliud Kipchoge won over Mo Farah, who finished third.

One wrote: ‘London Marathon “uninterrupted” BBC coverage…unwatchable unless you’re a fan of jumpy pictures and broken commentary,’ alongside a clip of clearly interrupted coverage.

Julie Jones said: ‘I think the spectators would do a better job filming on their phones than the BBC are managing for the London Marathon.’

Another one said: ‘Really hard to watch the BBC coverage of the London Marathon when the TV signal keeps dropping out at source every two or three minutes!’
One simply added: ‘@BBC your coverage of the London Marathon is dog shit.’
There are currently 40,000 runners taking part in the in the event which has already been confirmed as the hottest London Marathon ever.
