Emily Blunt Says It Was Love At First Sight With Hubby John Krasinski

Emily Blunt isn’t ruling out a Devil Wears Prada sequel — but she’s not rooting for one either.

The actress, 35, opened up about her days filming the beloved comedy during the latest episode of The Jess Cagle Interview (streaming now on People TV).

“We all just wept with laughter,” she told PEOPLE’s Editor-in-Chief Jess Cagle. “I loved working with sweet Annie Hathaway and it was my first experience working Meryl [Streep] and Stanley Tucci who is now my brother-in-law.”

Tucci married Blunt’s sister Felicity in 2012.

In The Devil Wears Prada, Blunt starred as fashion assistant Emily working under an intimidating magazine editor in the 2006 film that became an instant hit. It also snagged Streep her 12th Oscar nomination and went on to gross $326 million worldwide.

And while fans have been dying for a sequel, Blunt said she’s hesitant to jump on board with a Devil Wears Prada 2.

“If everyone did it I would be up for it,” she said. “I almost hope it doesn’t [happen] because I think sometimes when you sequel everything kind of dilutes how special the original is.”

In March, the cast of The Devil Wears Prada had an impromptu reunion at the premiere of Tucci’s new movie Final Portrait. Both Streep and Blunt showed up to lend their support to the 57-year-old actor-director.

Although the trio didn’t pose all together at the event, Tucci was spotted smiling alongside Streep — with whom he also starred in 2009’s Julie & Julia — and cozying up with Blunt.

Blunt stars in a A Quiet Place, directed by and costarring her husband John Krasinski, out now in theaters.

Emily Blunt had to get husband John Krasinski to “fire” a rival actress to make way for her to star in his horror film “A Quiet Place,” she revealed on a U.K. chat show Friday. Appearing on the first episode in a new season of British chat show “The Graham Norton Show” to promote the film, the actress said she had to insist Krasinski, who directed and co-stars in the film, fire another actress to allow her to take the role. Although Blunt did not name the actress she said she was a “good friend.”

Sitting beside Krasinski on the show, which was recorded Thursday, Blunt said she had initially been reluctant to appear in the horror film when her husband pitched it to her as she had just given birth to the couple’s second daughter, Violet, and was about to start shooting “Mary Poppins Returns” so felt “in a state of joy.”

“I wasn’t sure I wanted to go to the darkness of the pitch that he’d given me for this film,” Blunt told Norton, revealing that she had recommended he approach a friend of hers for the role, which he did. “Then I read the script and I was like ‘you need to call her and fire her’.” Blunt said she was still friends with the unnamed actress.

“I’d heard she was a diva,” joked Krasinski.

Blunt also said she had felt terrified to take on the iconic role of Mary Poppins originated by Julie Andrews. “It felt thrilling and scary at the same time,” said the British actress.

“A Quiet Place” opens in the U.S., U.K. and other markets this weekend. “The Graham Norton Show” airs Friday nights in the U.K. on BBC One.

It was just like a movie.

Actress Emily Blunt opened up to People about how she met and fell in love with husband John Krasinski.

According to Blunt, she was sitting in a restaurant with her friend, enjoying her single-lady status, when the man of her dreams came sauntering in.

“We were discussing how much I was enjoying being single. And then [my friend] goes, ‘Oh, my God, there’s my friend John.’ And that was it,” the “A Quiet Place” actress told People Thursday.

And when it came to Krasinski — who recently said Blunt “gets me more than anyone else has ever gotten me” (swoon!) — he was quick to put a ring on it.

“We were engaged within 10 months, but I think we probably knew before that,” Blunt said.
