Drake and Travis Scott joined gaming personality Tyler “Ninja” Blevins in a live-streamed session of shooter game “Fortnite” overnight. It aired on game-streaming platform Twitch. Check out highlights below and see a 50-minute stream on Twitch.tv. Drake, using the name TheBoyDuddus, appears after the 2-minute mark, with Travis (cactus_jackk92) joining later on. NFL wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster also got involved. At one point, the stream had 630,000 concurrent viewers, breaking the previous record of 388,000 for a single-player stream, The Verge reports. During the broadcast, Drake said he’s been playing “Fortnite” in breaks from recording his new album.
UPDATE: Travis Scott and JuJu Smith-Schuster joined the game, and Logic and Lil Yachty lined up to play afterwards.
Drake is on live-streaming video platform Twitch playing popular co-op sandbox survival game Fortnite. Not only is that a big deal as Ninja is one of the most popular Twitch streamers and Twitch is the amongst the biggest video game streaming platforms, there are currently over 500,000 people watching live — which means they’ve broke the previous record of 400,000.
Drake said on the livestream that he had been playing Fortnite for a month or two. The 6 God has also been watching Ninja on Instagram and on YouTube. Drizzy and his crew play Fortnite in the studio to take a break from 20-hour recording sessions.
While PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds brought battle royale games into the mainstream, Fortnite has surpassed PUBG’s player count and is the most-watched game on Twitch, doubling PUBG’s viewership.
