The Office of Personnel Management announced that all federal offices in the D.C. area would be closed Friday. Emergency and telework-ready employees required to work must follow their agency’s policies, including written telework agreements, OPM added.
The storm also prompted the Smithsonian to close its museums and the National Zoo. The National Gallery of Art was also closed Friday.

As the state gears up for a powerful nor’easter, schools across the region have announced closures.
The National Weather Service is forecasting that much of the state will only get a few inches of snow or less, but meteorologists warn that forecast could change and that flooding, rain, and high winds are all likely.

Arlington County Public Schools – Closed. Essential personnel should report to work at their scheduled time. All custodians report at 6 a.m. regardless of your regular shift.

Calvert County Public Schools. – Closed. Code White for 12 month employees. No employees report to work.
Carroll County Public Schools – Closed.
Charles County Public Schools – Closed. Code Blue for those employees who follow the code system.
Culpeper County Public Schools – Closed. 12-Month employees do not report. Essential personnel report should report at 12 noon.
D.C. Public Schools – Closed. Parent-teacher conferences are canceled. Teachers do not need to report to school. DCPS will reschedule the parent-teacher conferences. Central Office is open, and Central Office staff can take unscheduled leave.
Fairfax County Public Schools – Closed. Condition 1.
Falls Church City Public Schools – Closed.
Fauquier County Public Schools – Closed. Admin offices open at 9AM. Liberal Leave in effect
Frederick County (Md) Public Schools – Closed. All offices are open under Code Orange with staff on the 12-month calendar scheduled to work but on a 2-hour delay with re-evaluation at 8 AM.
Fredericksburg City Public Schools – Closed. Code Red for 12-month employees.
Howard County Public Schools – Closed. Central Office will open at 10 a.m.
