Eddie Vedder & Brad Pitt Unite With Huge Names For Special Event

Eddie Vedder performed a moving version of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' "Room at the Top" during the "In Memoriam" segment of the 2018 Oscars.

The Pearl Jam frontman stripped back the 1999 single to a soft croon, strummed electric guitar and swirling keyboard strings. "I got a room at the top of the world tonight/ I can see everything tonight," he sang in his trademark quivering tone. "I got a room where everyone/ Can have a drink and forget those things that went wrong in their life."

As always, the "In Memoriam" segment paid tribute to Hollywood giants who died in the past year – including Harry Dean Stanton, Jonathan Demme, John Heard, Martin Landau, Glenne Headly, Roger Moore, Sam Shepard, George A. Romero, Don Rickles and Jerry Lewis.

Last month, Vedder joined Will Ferrell, Pearl Jam bandmate Mike McCready, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith, Brandi Carlile and Dave Matthews Band's Stefan Lessard to cover Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" at a Seattle charity concert.

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder and his wife Jill have been spending some time in Los Angeles the last few days as Oscar fever has taken over Hollywood, and Vedder is a 2018 Oscars performer.

Vedder, Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper, Laura Dern, and other big names attended Sean Penn’s book event Friday night at Giorgio Baldi in the Pacific Palisades.

The 57-year-old actor beamed with pride surrounded by his famous pals, who all took home a copy of his ‘darkly funny’ debut novel Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff.

Vedder also attended an Oscar nominees event hosted by Laura Dern, and he was also photographed with Meryl Streep. Dern wrote on Instagram, “Hosting our brilliant acting nominees last night with special guest from the music branch, Eddie Vedder, helping say hey.”

Vedder performed his song “Out of Sand” during Twin Peaks’ third season last year, in which Laura Dern starred as Diane. Vedder was wearing an Eraserhead shirt, one of Twin Peaks creator David Lynch’s classic films.

See photos from the two events below featuring Vedder and his Hollywood friends.
