Though it's not clear if he'll be ringing in her special day with her, Rihanna's been linked to billionaire Hassan Jameel since last June and though rare, the couple have been spotted together several times in past months.
Hassan is the son to auto mogul Abdul Latif Jameel and has a reported worth of $1.5billion dollars.
Chris Brown attends the Givenchy show as part of the Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Fall/Winter 2016/2017 on March 6, 2016 in Paris, France.
Chris Brown and Rihanna may no longer be an item, but the "Loyal" singer clearly still cares about his ex. Almost as soon as RiRi's 30th birthday began Tuesday (Feb. 20), Brown shared a happy birthday message to her on his Instagram.
With the simple caption of “HAPPY BIRTHDAY @badgalriri,” the picture seems to be a childhood photo of the Barbados-born singer.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY @badgalriri A post shared by ------SILVER AURA-- INDIGO CHILD (@chrisbrownofficial) on Feb 19, 2018 at 10:23pm PST
The two started dating in 2008, though they met sometime around 2005 when they were both still teenagers. Their relationship took a violent turn in 2009 when Brown assaulted Rihanna in a rented car on the eve of that year's Grammy Awards following Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party.
In his 2017 documentary, Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life, Brown opened up about that night, saying it stemmed from a disagreement about his past relationships, and ended in him violently hitting her “with a closed fist” while driving. A month later, Brown was charged with felony assault and making criminal threats and in June 2009 he pleaded guilty to a felony assault charge and accepted a plea deal that included five years probation, six months of community service and one year of mandatory domestic violence counseling; a judge also instituted a five-year restraining order that required Brown to say at least 50 yards away from Rihanna at all time.
The two briefly got back together sometime around 2012, putting out the aptly named duet “Nobody’s Business” on Rihanna’s LP Unapologetic.
In an interview with Billboard in 2014, Brown said the incident is something people bring up to hold his career back: “As long as you’re doing something good, people will always bring up old stuff or negative stuff because they don’t want you to surpass a certain level or elevate. But as long as you have your head on straight, it shouldn’t matter what people want to say.”
As for what Instagram commenters thought of the birthday post, thoughts ranged from supportive hardcore fans still shipping Rihanna and CB, asking “can ya’ll just get back together" to confusion and anger from those who are still affected by the incident: “What is your purpose? Really?”
Twitter had a similar mixed bag of reactions. Check out a handful of them below.

Chris Brown fans really want us to forgive his woman beating ass. Domestic abuse ISNT a mistake it’s a CONSCIOUS choice. Rihanna going back to him didn’t excuse his behavior as most domestic abuse victims do it continuously. He was cancelled after that & always will be. — cici -- (@melaninporn) February 12, 2018

Rihanna is saluting her 20s in the most comical (and sartorial) way!
Before she turns 30 on Tuesday, Bad Gal RiRi celebrated her pre-birthday celebrations by wearing herself. With a bold red lip (from her very own Fenty Beauty?), muted pink sunglasses and metallic hoop earrings, she kicked off her birthday with an “I Hate Rihanna” fashion statement.
And even more hilarious: in smaller print, her oversized shirt-turned-mini dress also read “Don’t Trust Anyone Under 30.”
Rihanna shared her ensemble on Instagram Story Monday writing, “Last day to make a bad decision and blame it on my 20’s,” and a side-eye emoji.

While Rihanna is a fan of unique designer looks and haute couture pieces, she toasted her last moments in her 20s with a $130 from Melgaard.
Of course, this isn’t her first time making a statement with a single shirt.
Back in October 2016, Rihanna made a $35 #WithHer print look fashionable with a $4,400 Louis Vuitton bag for the ultimate high-low combination.

Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, first graced this earth with her presence this day 30 years ago.
On 20 February 1988, an icon was born, and although we weren’t there at the birth ourselves we can’t believe how much time has flown by.
Since being discovered by Jay-Z in Barbados in 2005, Rihanna has pretty much stayed winning as she’s collected nine Grammy Awards, over a dozen American Music Awards, and an MTV Music Video Vanguard Award, to name just a few of her musical achievements.
The singer, who deserves all the continued praise for her impressive vocal skills, has had seven certified platinum albums and released 71 singles.
14 of those have become number one on the Billboard charts, making her the youngest and fastest solo artist to ever hit that number.
And it doesn’t just stop with her music (or being a fashion icon) as Rihanna recently helped world-leaders raise $2.3 billion (£1.6b) for education across the world.
Here we celebrate three incredible decades for Bad Gal RiRi with some of her non-career greatest moments (thus far).
Every time she used a wine glass as an accessory:
We want one now (Picture: Getty Images)
We really want to know how this fashion icon managed to make a wine glass a stylish accessory.
But she did, and she does it without fail.
On one such occasion Rihanna walked a busy New York City street, to attend an even busier nightclub, with a glass of wine pressed firmly in her hands like it was no thing and we were more than impressed.
The time she got away with wearing a heart-shaped fur cape:
How did she get away with this? (Picture: GC Images)
Honestly, Rihanna can wear a bin bag and get away with it.
But when RiRi stepped out in a heart-shaped fur cape, we all knew we wanted one too.
The only problem is that was worth $15,000 (£10,700).
The time she swerved Drake’s attempt to kiss her at VMAs:
It’s a known fact that Drake has had a crush on Rihanna for, like, forever.
So when she expertly swerved her former boo’s kiss when she accepted the 2016 MTV Video Vanguard from him, leaving him in a polite lurch, we couldn’t help but applaud her.
Who rejects a guy’s advances so wonderfully?
This woman.
When her and Lupita Nyong’o went viral and a movie came of it:
This picture of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o inspired a movie that might actually be getting made (Picture: Getty Images)
A bit of background: a picture of Rihanna and Lupita at Paris Fashion Week in 2014 circulated on Twitter and Tumblr last year.
On Tumblr, user elizabitchtaylor posted the photo and said: ‘They look like they’re in a heist movie with Rihanna as the tough-as-nails leader/master thief and Lupita as the genius computer hacker.’
A similar tweet popped up from @1800SADGAL, which read: ‘Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scans [sic]’.
Lupita retweeted it and said she was up for it if Rihanna was, Riri said she was SO IN, and fans called on A Wrinkle In Time director Ava DuVernay to direct this Hollywood masterpiece. AND SHE AGREED.
Writer Issa Rae, the creator of Insecure, jumped in to say she was ready to write it, and the internet film idea was born.
We really hope this happens.
When her Met Gala dress broke the internet:

At the 2015 Met Gala, Rihanna wore a stunning canary-yellow dress by Guo Pei.
But what happened next nobody could anticipate.
The internet being the internet turned the train of her dress into a whole network of memes that took over our timelines for months.
From omelettes to pizza and even SpongeBob Squarepants, Rihanna’s dress gave us something to giggle about.
When she was named Harvard’s Humanitarian of the Year:
You’ve earned it, Ri (Picture: Getty Images)
Music is not where it begins and ends for the Umbrella singer.
In 2016, she was named a global ambassador for education by GPE, and in February of last year she earned Harvard’s Humanitarian of the Year Award for her work through her Clara Lionel Foundation and for constantly promoting education in various parts of the world, including Malawi.
When accepting her Harvard award, Rihanna explained what it means to be a humanitarian, as she said: ‘We’re all human.’
She added: ‘We all just want a chance, a chance at life, a chance at an education, a chance at a future, really. At CLF [Clara Lionel Foundation], our mission is to impact as many lives as possible, but it starts with just one. Just one.’
Talk about utilising your platform as a celebrity to do some good work.
The twerks of all twerks:
Rihanna’s nearly-naked Swarovski gown at 2014 CFDA Awards blew the internet away.
It had us talking, drooling and green with envy.
Heck, some people questioned whether she was a ‘great role model’ for wearing such a gorgeous outfit.
All we saw was confidence!
And our favourite bit?
When she twerked the heck out of the clingy Adam Selman gown after being honoured with the Fashion Icon of the Year Award.
Same, RiRi. Same.
When we all lovingly called her ‘Thicc RiRi’ for this outfit and she encouraged a movement:
Last year the Shut Up And Drive singer posed in an outfit was made basically just out of feathers and crystals at the 2017 Crop Over festival in Barbados, where she was spotted riding in a truck on a parade route and drinking from a to-go cup.
Thus the beginning of ‘Thicc’ was spawned, which encouraged the world to celebrate women of all sizes – and many saw Rihanna as an important role model and inspiration for flaunting what you’ve got with confidence: looking g-damn banging in the process.
What a way to live your best life.
Happy Birthday Rihanna x
