The National Television Awards – hosted by Dermot O’Leary – are the only TV awards show voted entirely by the British public – and the likes of Gogglebox, Blue Planet, and Ant and Dec have all taken home gongs.
Now it’s in 23rd year, the awards show was held at the O2 Arena – and it was an extra-special occasion as this year the entertainment show award has been renamed The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award; Sir Bruce was a firm fixture of the entertainment scene and sadly passed away on August 18 last year.

The National Television Awards 2018 winners were revealed on Tuesday night - with tearful Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnely scooping three awards.
The biggest names in the biz came together under one roof for the annual ceremony at London's O2 arena - with Ant and Dec coming out as the big winners.
The Geordie duo picked up the awards for TV Presenter, best Challenge Show for I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and the first Bruce Forsyth entertainment award for Saturday Night Takeaway.
Emmerdale bagged the coveted best soap award, while Doctor Foster also came out on top by winning for Drama Programme, with star Suranne Jones picking up the gong for Drama Performance.

Ant was reduced to tears as he opened up on a 'tough 12 months' and thanked his family and friends for helping him 'get through' - but failed to directly mention estranged wife Lisa Armstrong.
Ant said: "Thank you very much. We love making I’m A Celebrity. Thank you for loving it too. We want to make it forever."
Dec added: "Huge thank you to everyone who voted for us, ITV for their continued support, and the class of 2017. Everybody thank you so much for this very small award."
Wilnelia Forsyth gave the first Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award to Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.
In an emotional speech, she said: “I wish I wouldn't have to be here standing here in front of you but I a proud and so honoured that this special award is named after my darling Bruce.

“I know he would have loved it because showbusiness was his life. I also know if he was here this evening he'd be saying 'it's nice to see you, to see you nice'.”
Picking up the prize after Wilnelia announced them as winners, Ant said: “It is an honour to pick this up. We started filming for Saturday night Takeaway today and we also started filming a little tribute to Sir Bruce.”
Dec added: “We appeared on this very stage with Sir Bruce and it was one of the highlights of our career we are thrilled and honoured to win this. This one's for you Brucie!

There were tears in the room when Gogglebox won best Factual, with sisters Izzie and Ellie dedicating the award to Leon and June Bernicoff.
The Warner sisters collected the trophy and paid tribute to Leon, who died aged 83 in December last year.

Corrie star Lucy Fallon was in tears as she headed on stage after winning best Serial Drama Performance.
Her character, Bethany Platt, has endured a traumatic year after she was groomed by evil Nathan and his disgusting sex ring.
Lucy Fallon said: “I don't think I am going to be able speak because I will be crying.
“Thank you to everyone at Coronation Street, all of the cast, the Platt family, everybody who voted, my family, my mum and dad and boyfriend.”

While former Corrie actress Suranne Jones picked up the award for Drama Performance for her role as revenge driven Gemma in Doctor Foster.
Suranne, who previously won the same award in 2016, said: “I really didn't expect that. This is like the second season as well, it was a risk to make a second because you loved the first so much and we didn't want to disappoint you, so this means to much.
"Thank you team and thank you Bertie, without a Simon there wouldn't be a Gemma. I love it thanks, bye.”

TV Judge winner David Walliams hugged and kissed Ant and Dec before he took to the stage to collect his award.
He said: “I don't look upon this as a victory for me, I look upon it as a humiliation for Simon Cowell . All he does is judge, he can't sing, he can't dance, he cant tell jokes, he just says no. We could all do that.”
Jodie Whittaker dedicated the Broadchurch award for best crime drama to 'the survivors of sexual assault and all the brilliant people nationwide who have worked to support them'

Sir David Attenborough received a standing ovation as he joined the team behind Blue Planet 2 to pick up the Impact Award.
Sir David, 91, said he was pleased the series had made people think about their use of plastic and the impact they were having on the environment.
Sounding modest, he said on stage: “Thank you very, very much. It was my job, it was my privilege, to provide the words, but you know and I know is what counted was the pictures, and it was the pictures that were created by the cameramen and the camerawomen who dived in to the water and spent three or four years doing so.
“These are the people who should be holding this(award), but I know they would join me in saying that what we we're all trying to do was raise a great issue that is important not only in this country but worldwide in what we are doing on this planet. If our television programmes have helped stir the consciousness of people around the world and we are going to do something to protect our beautiful world then all of us will be very pleased.”

Ant admitted he was 'shaking' as he headed to the stage for a third time to pick up the award for TV Presenter with best pal Declan Donnelly.
After getting a comforting hug from Dec, who said this award 'means more this year than any other year', Ant admitted it had been a 'very emotional night'.
"Thank you so much, I'm shaking," said an emotional Ant.

"It's been a very emotional night tonight. It's been quite a year, quite a 12 months, so winning this tonight means quite a lot.
"I'd personally like to thank all my friends and family, some of you are here tonight, for all your support."
"Thank you little guy," he added before giving Dec another massive hug.

Picking up the award for Car Share, Sian Gibson said on stage: “Thank you, so exciting, so terrified as well.
“We had the best time making Car Share, it was the best show. Obviously I have to say thank you so much to Peter Kay, he is gutted he cant be here but he sends his love, so we are going to go phone him.”

Holly and Phil lost out on their individual presenter awards but did have success with This Morning.
Phil said: "You have no idea what it mean to us and our amazing team."
Holly added: "Alison Hammond is a legend by the way."
But their speech was interrupted by Bradley Walsh, who came up on stage despite missing out on the award.

It seemed fitting that Strictly Come Dancing won best Talent Show on the year that Bruce Forsyth passed away.
Presenter Tess Daley accepted the award and was joined on stage by the judges, including Shirley Ballas , and some of this year's bunch of contestants.
The big final award of the evening went to Emmerdale as the ITV soap took Serial Drama, with the entire cast and crew heading up on stage.
