Kim Kardashian hits back on 'cultural appropriation'

Kim Kardashian West just shared one of her most NSFW photos yet.

The 37-year-old star posted a series of revealing photos on Instagram of her new controversial cornrow look, including a completely topless photo with her nipples slightly blurred out, wearing only a skimpy white thong and fur coat.

She quickly followed by posting another photo of herself kneeling on the bed revealing her rear end in the white thong as she snapped photos of her Polaroids.

Kardashian West also posted another nipple-revealing photo as she stood in a soaking wet plunging white top.

This past weekend, Kardashian West shared an underwear-clad mirror selfie video to social media where she showed off her hair braided back in cornrows against her head.

Despite backlash from some fans who accused Kardashian West of cultural appropriation by wearing her hair in cornrows, the KKW Beauty mogul posted a photo of herself laying in a sheer white swimsuit on the beach with the braids, and another shot of her sitting on a bed in skimpy underwear wearing her braids.

She captioned the second image “BO WEST,” presumably as an ode to Derek, the 1970s actress who popularized this braided hairstyle in the 1979 film 10, which featured an iconic scene of the star running down a beach.

This is not the first time Kardashian West has been accused of cultural appropriation. When she and her sisters used to wear their hair in cornrows which they and other non-African Americans dubbed “boxer braids” instead of cornrows, they were publically criticised on social media and by other celebrities.

Kardashian West also shared a selfie, which appears to be a throwback photo (based off of her dark hair), where she wore the same braids as husband Kanye West rested his head upon her shoulder.

Despite all the work it takes for Kardashian West to maintain her blonde hair (she revealed she needs to sit 13+ hours for hairstylist Chris Appleton to touch up her roots!) the reality star shut down rumors that she had switched back to her brunette ‘do.

“No it’s just wet and slicked back but good observation lol,” the star tweeted back to the fan who thought Kardashian West’s hair looked a bit darker in a video she posted baking blueberry muffins on Snapchat.

“She’s here!” Kardashian West wrote. “We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care.”

WHAT IS CULTURAL APPROPRIATION? Cultural appropriation in its simplest form is when someone adopts something from a culture that doesn't belong to them. This could be a hairstyle or a way of speaking. The Everyday Feminism website says: ' Unlike cultural exchange, in which there is a mutual interchange, appropriation refers to a "particular power dynamic in which members of a dominant culture take elements from a culture of people who have been systematically oppressed by that dominant group."'

However, the comment was immediately blasted by her followers, who branded her 'disrespectful' and accused of her cultural appropriation.

The TV star was immediately slammed by her followers after revealing in the selfie video she was 'really into' her new look, inspired by the famous American actress.

One fan responded by writing: 'I’m still a bit peeved on how @KimKardashian had the audacity to call these braids “Bo Derrick” braids' (sic)

While another added: 'Kim Kardashian on snap talking about some Bo Derek braids. Kim they are called CORN ROWS.'

Another added: 'Kim kardashian should have learned by now how to properly deal with black culture and considering she has three black kids this behavior is disturbing.'

While a further fan blasted: 'First of all, f*** you @KimKardashian for wearing cornrows and calling them "Boderrick braids". second of call f*** you again for crediting the creation of "boderrick braids" to a white woman who was culturally appropriating cornrows to begin with'

Earlier on Sunday she shared a bathroom selfie wearing only Calvin Klein underwear, during a recent photo shoot for the brand.

Kim recently welcomed baby number three earlier this month but since she used a gestational carrier, she doesn't have to worry about losing any pregnancy weight.

She and Kanye welcomed daughter Chicago via surrogate, due to issues Kim had suffered during her pregnancies with daughter North, four, and son Saint, two.

Jaw-dropping: The outspoken journalist, 52, who took to Twitter to tell Kim to 'put them away, for goodness sake' couldn't contain his vitriol as he commented on the scantily clad images, released shortly after his interview with US president Donald Trump aired

Piers said: 'Very big news day yesterday obviously for reasons we all know. But right in the middle of it, it was really glad to know that some things never change.

Heavily criticising 37-year-old Kim, who recently welcomed third child Chicago via surrogate this month, said: 'When you become a mother again, things don’t change. You’ve become a mother again, you’re in your mid to late 30s, it's your third child.

'I know what I'll do, I'll put a big topless photo of myself on social media.'

'We’ve covered them up, she’s basically got them and gone way look at me, me too.

Fury: He said: 'I know what I'll do, I'll put a big topless photo of myself on social media.' 'We’ve covered them up, she’s basically got them and gone way look at me, me too'

Slammed: Piers also took to Twitter to comment on the half-naked snaps

'Time should be up for Miss Kardashian. I don’t know what she adds to the movement really.

'The only thing moving is her breasts. It's reassuring isn’t it that some things never change.'

In March 2016 Piers and Kim became embroiled in a spat after he criticised her completely nude mirror selfie, leading the outspoken host to tweet: ‘I know the old man’s $50 million in debt, Kim, but this is absurd. Want me to buy you some clothes?’

Kim was quick to hit back writing: ‘Hey @PiersMorgan,’ she retorted, ‘never offer to buy a married woman clothes. That’s on some Ashley Madison type s**t. #forresearch’.

Vitriol: The star said: 'Time should be up for Miss Kardashian. I don’t know what she adds to the movement really

He also laid into Kim and said she wasn't promoting feminism when she posed for a racy topless snap with model Emily Ratajkowski that year.

In March last year during Good Morning Britain, the star said: 'I saw Kim Kardashian flipping the bird doing a topless selfie to her millions of followers, many of whom are impressionable young girls –that can’t be a good example of feminism.'

'She does it in the name of liberating and empowering women and feminism, to me that can’t be and shouldn’t be what feminism is.’

Singer Annie Lennox concurred: 'That’s her version of feminism, it’s not mine and it’s not Helen's'.

She continued: 'For me, because of my absolute commitment to that issue, I’ve been to Ethopia and done things courtesy of Comic Relief.

No holding back: He finished his comments with: 'The only thing moving is her breasts. It's reassuring isn’t it that some things never change'

'I'm deeply involved in the basic things like trying to get women access to education, let alone basic pay. The western world is in a bubble.'

Meanwhile, Kim defended her right to post naked selfies while on the red carpet at the Vogue 100 gala dinner in London last May.

She said at the time: 'For me, it wasn't even about flaunting it. I felt good about myself so let ME do what I feel comfortable with. If you are conservative and if you're not comfortable with that, that's amazing, too.'

But Piers said: 'She's wrong about the naked selfies. Do that to Kanye. I've got no problem with what she does in her own life.

Adding: 'Doing it to a bunch of millions of young girls... is that really the arbiter of success for women in the world now? No, it's not... Be stylish. Be cool, be sexy, be genuinely empowering.'

Nude: In March 2016 Piers and Kim became embroiled in a spat after he criticised her completely nude mirror selfie, leading Kim to hit back saying, ‘never offer to buy a married woman clothes'

Piers also criticised Emily Ratajkowski's steamy spaghetti video for the LOVE advent calendar earlier this month, after Emily branded his comments about her 'sexist'.

A riled Piers said: 'You know our old friend Emily Ratajkowski, the global bimbo who parades naked in spaghetti for Feminist empowerment?

He continued: 'She's been asked about my Tweets about her' before reading out lines from the brunette beauty's Grazia interview in which she said: 'It’s sexism, basically.

'I think there’s a valid argument behind the idea that sexiness is patriarchal, and that’s problematic.

Controversial: He also laid into Kim and said she wasn't promoting feminism when she posed for a racy topless snap with model Emily Ratajkowski that year

'But that being said, it can be really limiting to young women who feel like that’s their self-expression; someone telling them that they can’t do that is suppressing.'

A confused Piers responded: 'What does any of that even mean Emily?

'You were just writhing naked in spaghetti - Emmeline Pankhurst you're not love. Sorry that's it - you're not.

'It's not about sexism or feminism, it's not. What a senseless waste of pasta. We know from looking at you you don't eat pasta - what a waste.'

Piers has previously slammed Emily for sending her friends and family naked Christmas cards, while he was also involved in an online row with Kim over her relentless naked selfies.

The Blurred Lines beauty caused a stir on social media when the clip of her writhing around on a table full of greasy spaghetti in just her underwear was released.

Criticism: Piers also criticised Emily Ratajkowski 's steamy spaghetti video for the LOVE advent calendar earlier this month, after Emily branded his comments about her 'sexist'

This led to her writing an impassioned post to fans after she was criticised for the video.

Emily explained: 'To me, female sexuality and sexiness, no matter how conditioned it may be by a patriarchal ideal, can be incredibly empowering for a woman if she feels it is empowering to her.

'The way I dress, act, flirt, dance, have sex — those are my decisions and they shouldn’t be impacted by men. Being sexy is fun and I like it. I should never have to apologise for that.'
