Miriam Margolyes was left so embarrassed after This Morning showed her farting today.

The Harry Potter actress was on the ITV daytime show to promote her new TV show In Search of the American Dream - and a promo clip was played before her interview.

In one bit of the trailer, Miriam was seen farting.

But when it cut back to her in the This Morning studio, she was shocked.

She said: "I'm just so embarrassed that they put the fart in the programme.

"I haven't seen the programme, no. I'm shocked that they put that on.

"That's embarrassing."

Phillip Schofield laughed, saying: "It's going to be on the show anyway, it's going to be on telly.

"You've got a camera in front of you, try and keep it in."

Miriam reassured: "I promise I will, I'm alright at the moment."

In her new TV show, Miriam travels around America meeting people and discovering what the country is like now that President Donald Trump is in charge.

But she confessed she made some of the people she met "feel uncomfortable".

Phil took the opportunity to blame it on her farting, but she said: "I don't know if it was that. I didn't fart everywhere, come on – I know how to behave."

She finished the interview by accusing Phillip of taking drugs.

She quipped: "I'm always scared of drugs, I've never taken a drug stronger than aspirin – I bet you can't say that."

The embarrassed presenter replied: "She says that with only four seconds to go."

"I'm just so embarrassed that they put the fart in the programme," she admitted. "I haven't seen the programme, no. I'm shocked that they put that on. That's embarrassing."

Phillip Schofield teased her, saying: "It's going to be on the show anyway, it's going to be on telly. You've got a camera in front of you, try and keep it in."

The actress lived in America for 16 years and decided to travel across North America to work out what's changed since it voted in controversial President, Donald Trump.

Miriam explained that she felt most uncomfortable at a high-society ball in Chicago, but when the 76-year-old actress went to the South Side to meet with rappers, drug dealers and criminals, she made friends with almost everyone she met.

In fact, she just missed an incident where one person was shot dead and two more were injured, and explained that people who live there believe it's "kill or be killed".

Despite the sombre topic, Phillip still teased the actress about her flatulence a few more times before they finished. She explained that she made the Americans "feel uncomfortable", which Phil blamed on the farting.

"I don't know if it was that. I didn't fart everywhere, come on – I know how to behave," shot back Miriam.

Outspoken Miriam also had time to accuse Phillip of taking drugs, with merely seconds of the interview left.

"I'm always scared of drugs, I've never taken a drug stronger than aspirin – I bet you can't say that," she quipped.

"She says that with only four seconds to go," said Phil, looking embarrassed.

Miriam's Big American Adventure is on BBC One Wednesdays at 9pm.

This Morning continues weekdays from 10.30am on ITV1.

And while describing some of the friends she met along the way, Miriam managed to accuse Phil of using drugs.

Standard This Morning antics, right?

The 76-year-old said: ‘I will go back, and the wonderful thing for me is that I’ve remained friends with nearly all the people I met on the programme. Even though they came from different backgrounds, criminals, druggies…

‘I’m always scared of drugs, I’ve never taken a drug stronger than aspirin.’

She then looked at Phil and said: ‘I bet you can’t say that!’

As Holly laughed, Phil tried to keep a straight face and said: ‘She says that with four seconds to go.’

Miriam said: ‘No, you’re clean’ – so Phil isn’t in any trouble.

The actress’s show Miriam’s Big American Adventure will air on BBC One at 9pm on Wednesday.
