Golden Globes 2018: As it happened

That marks the end of the beginning of this year’s awards season. It’s been a fascinating night if, like me, you end up watching a lot of these things and get a bit fatigued by the repetitious nature of it all.

The decision to bring the elephant in the room (sexual abuse in Hollywood) front and center made for an often compelling ceremony and an entirely, radically different red carpet. Who would have guessed a year ago that tonight would have played out with such fire?

Three Billboards and Big Little Lies won the most awards but tomorrow, it’ll be Oprah who will be the most talked about winner of the evening. Her speech was as powerful as Meryl Streep’s was last year and watching her be elevated along with the other women and female-fronted films and shows that won made for a refreshing and progressive evening. G’night.
