The Premier League begins a busy schedule of fixtures over the festive season, with a heavyweight clash between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates.

Jurgen Klopp’s men currently occupy the fourth position on the table with 34 points, one more than the Gunners whose form has been shaky lately.

Both teams picked up important victories last weekend.

Arsenal claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle at home, while Liverpool hammered Bournemouth 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium.

Arsene Wenger’s men will be seeking revenge, as they were humiliated 4-0 in the reverse fixture at Anfield earlier this season.

Kick off is 8.45pm.

Real Madrid host Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the season this Saturday at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid are 11 points behind the Camp Nou club, who have not lost in La Liga this season.

If Zinedine Zidane’s men lose this weekend, they can as well forget about defending their LaLiga title this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo is already a doubt for the game, after missing full training for two consecutive days.

Real took the honours when the teams met in the Supercopa, with Ronaldo scoring in the 3-1 first-leg win before being sent off.

Real Madrid 0 vs Barcelona 3

Barcelona’s march towards the 2017/2018 La Liga title continued on Saturday, as they defeated fierce rivals Real Madrid 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Real, fresh from their Club World Cup triumph in the United Arab Emirates, needed a positive result to stay in touch with Ernesto Valverde’s men.

However, it was Barca that struck first through Luis Suarez, after a fine passing move.

The hosts went down to 10 men, after Dani Carvjal handled the ball in the area. Lionel Messi stepped up and smashed the penalty past Keylor Navas.

There was still time for Messi to set up Aleix Vidal for the third in stoppage time.
